Call the school district and see if they have an Early Childhood Intervention program for developmental delays. If not, they should be able to get you pointed in the right direction.
Also, I would refrain from calling it autism. There's so much fear and negativity associated with that word. Your son and DIL could easily be in a state of denial about it. And it could be something else entirely.
