Prayer request - sm

My husband and dog were outside in the yard playing ball today, when I heard my dog screaming.  I don't know what the dog ran across or if he stepped into a divot when running, but he could not put any weight on his back leg.  We took him to the emergency veterinary clinic.  He broke both his tibia and fibula. They gave him IV hydromorphone. They are distal oblique fractures, so surgical fixation is recommended.  We are not even on top of our normal bills right now, so I'm not sure what to do.  The surgery will be $6000-plus.  A second option was splinting and bandaging, but there is a longer healing time, probably won't heal perfectly aligned, and there is a higher risk for post-traumatic arthritis since the fractures are so close to the joint.  We brought him home splinted and bandaged from his toes all the way up to his hip, with prescriptions for Rimadyl, gabapentin, and trazodone, but he still cries when my husband picks him up to bring him outside.  He's 90 pounds, and this has been tough for my husband because he has a bad back.  My pup has not urinated since this morning because I don't think he knows how to posture himself in order to do that. Today's bill was nearly $1000, and I put it on my credit card.

Please pray that my dog heals so he can avoid surgery, and please pray that his pain is not unbearable.  Please pray that God gives us wisdom regarding his treatment and care and that we can swing it all financially.  Please also pray that all 3 of us have peace because we're all kind of freaked out right now.

Thanks very much for your prayers.  Happy Easter!
