SCOTUS justices and court employees are exempt

Posted: Jun 25, 2015

But maybe not for long.  On what grounds would Obama dare to veto a bill that eliminates the exemption?

Laws are for little people. No one believes in real freedom - anymore, it requires them

When the era of cheap money is over, the big government apparatus will come crashing down as it's unsustainable. What is waiting in the wings to replace it is frightening.

The success in demonizing the Confederate flag will lead to - more success later. The formula

is this, create a "right wing whacko" symbol, demonize it and make sure it represents something evil.

It does sound like Cloward Piven.

We're all seeing with our own two eyes that Nikki Haley called for removing the flag from the South Carolina state house along with Lindsey Graham and Tim Scott, yet the right-wing propaganda machine is blaming liberals.

Pay no attention to the fact that conservatives are the ones removing the traitor flag of the Civil War losers from public grounds. This is one of the most blatant and obvious use of lying that I have seen coming from the right-wing propaganda machine in decades. We are all seeing with our own 2 eyes that conservatives are calling for the flag's removal, but let's all propagandize that it's not actually conservatives. Self-delusion is so much easier than the actual truth, and that tells you everything you need to know about right-wing thinking.

a most shameful time in this country's history. Treason and slavery. You can try and wax poetic all you want about the Civil War being about more than slavery, but slavery was, in fact, the bottom line on this war. "States rights and economic issues" were about slavery because those economic "issues" were threatened by abolition. There's just no way around it.

Now, I was born and raised the first half of my life in the south. My ancestors fought for the south and yes, some even owned slaves. I can still honor them as my ancestors without honoring what side of the war they fought for. I don't need to wave a horrible symbol in front of a huge population of people for whom this flag represented an ungodly amount of pain and loss as a people. Would you wave a swastika flag? If not, why not? It's no different.

If so, then why does the right do so much of it? - Man, talk about destruction!

With them everything is slash & burn.

I read an article in the Boston Globe stating healthcare is now a right. - Health insurance is not healthcare,

and if someone else has to pay for something it's not a right.

Remember, if a gmt can give you a right, then they can take it - away just as quickly. I know

NFL Tax Exempt?Sep 22, 2014
If you have a huge stadium on Sundays with a lot of people praying, should you be a tax-exempt organization?  Apparently it is true for the NFL with their millions of profits every year.  I  certainly do not think some of these players should keep their celebrity status as role models for kids while exhibiting such poor personal conduct, but it is crazy that taxpayers have to keep footing the bill so these millionaires can keep raking in their millions.&n ...

Foreigners Sales Tax Exempt?Feb 25, 2014
My daughter just got a part-time job at a local store that is owned by a group of foreigners that own just about everything in town.  They gave her a tax exempt card that they told her was her personal card and she could use it on anything she so chose.  They even told her how much money she could save on taxes when she gets ready to buy a car.  I am VERY confused.  I mean, I thought only state agencies or charity organizations were sales tax exempt.  Anyone know what pe ...

SCOTUSApr 02, 2012
I have a questions for the liberals here.  I've heard some liberal talking heads state that they believe that if the SCOTUS rules all or part of ObamaCare unconstitutional that it would actually be a good thing for the Dems and Pres Obama.  Do you agree?  On that same line of thinking, if the law is ruled constitutional, do you think it would be a good thing for the Republicans?  In other words, if you lose you win and if you win you also win.  ?? ...

Oyez! Oyez! Oyez!  Is it just me or is anyone else bothered by the fact that there are no cameras allowed during the ObamaCare arguments?  I know they never allow cameras in the SC and I think I understand why they don't --- in order to prevent any distractions with grandstanding and drama by the attorneys.  That, and the fact they are the highest court in the land and most judges in this country are notoriously known for hating cameras.  Even still, since this ruling w ...

The exact quote is, “Just because a couple of people on the Supreme Court declare something to be 'constitutional' does not make it so."  OMG.  Is this the best the TP has to offer?  Is this the same Tea Party whose platform is founded on the principle that, "The U.S. Constitution is the supreme law of the land and must be adhered to without exception at all levels of government?"  One has to wonder if he has ever read it.  Then he said, "The Tea P ...

IRS Overpaid More Than 600 Employees Approximately May 11, 2017
The Internal Revenue Service, which is responsible for collecting federal taxes and enforcing federal tax law, was unable to accurately deal with its own complex rules governing the payment of its own employees and ended up overpaying more than 600 IRS workers about $4,200,000, according to an audit report by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration. The IRS also underpaid more than 900 employees about $2,700,000, according to TIGTA’s estimate. The inspector general found th ...

Big Jump Seen In Health Costs For Employees Oct 14, 2009
As companies begin unveiling their workplace benefits for next year, many employees are learning they will have to dig even deeper into their pockets for health coverage. Such price increases have become a fact of life during open-enrollment season, when workers sign up for their health plans. But the jump is expected to be steeper in 2010 than this year, as employers struggle with the impact of the recession and continually rising insurance costs. Employees will pay $4,023 on average in premiu ...

Sad News For My County-another 130 Employees Laid OffNov 06, 2012
The last garment factory that survived for 112 years is now gone. They just couldn't hang on any longer. They did last 4 years longer than the 90 year old company, but imports killed all of those factories. It was nothing to have 3-4 garment factories in each town. Some of the workers were employed there for 40 years and that's all they knew. The only opportunities they have now is Wal-Mart or picking orders in big box warehouse jobs 20 miles away or whatever is left in the closest ci ...

Why Illinois Is In Trouble, 63,000 Public Employees WithJul 26, 2017
Illinois is broke and continues to flirt with junk bond status. But the state’s financial woes aren’t stopping 63,000 government employees from bringing home six-figure salaries and higher. Whenever we open the books, Illinois is consistently one of the worst offenders. Recently, we found auto pound supervisors in Chicago making $144,453; nurses at state corrections earning up to $254,781; junior college presidents making $465,420; university doctors earning $1.6 million; and 84 small-to ...

Feds Probing VA Employees As Theft Of OpioidsFeb 22, 2017
Congress and governors have clamored for action in the face of a rising tide of opioid addition and deaths, but part of the trouble might come from inside the government itself. The Associated Press reported yesterday that the federal government has launched investigations into the Veterans Administration for widespread theft of opioids. They suspect that doctors, nurses, and other employees have “siphoned off” opioids and helped to fuel the black market: Federal authorities are steppin ...

Comcast Employees Get Time Off To Protest Trump'sFeb 02, 2017
TRENTON -- President Donald Trump's executive order temporarily restricting travel from seven majority-Muslim countries prompted Comcast to give its employees paid time off to protest. Trump's order sparked protests around the country and elicited rebukes from a handful of CEOs of companies that employ tens of thousands of U.S. workers, including Bill Ford, CEO of Ford Motor Company, who took to the airwaves to say the ban "goes against our values as a company." EEOC Tells Employers To Investigate Employees Who Wear Aug 05, 2016
You know that government can’t restrict your speech. Officially. But they can in all kinds of practical ways, just as they can do lots of other things to you without ever really taking an official action against you. Take the famous “Don’t Tread On Me” cap. Congress will never pass a law that says you can’t wear that cap, just because politicians may not like what the cap stands for. Constitutionally, Congress cannot do so. But if you think that means the government can’t come do ...
