Lyme disease treatment

Posted: Aug 2, 2012

I am looking for any information in how you (or someone close to you maybe) was treated for Lyme disease.  Was it done only with antibiotics, pulsed antibiotics, or something else?  My sister-in-law is really in a bad way with this.

She apparently has neuropathic pain too and nothing seems to be helping it.  She's hardly gotten out of bed in 2 wk.

Any experiences, suggestions, ideas, would be much appreciated. Thank you.

If you don't treat it with antibiotics, you can end up with significant complications that can kill you. She should go see a doctor and get put on antibiotics. One month of treatment usually does the trick.

this is beyond simple antibiotics - sm

thankyou, but I'm talking about a Lyme case that has not responded to routine treatment, and looking for anyone who has had experience with other modalities of treatment, resources, etc.

Checked for other things as well? - Concerned

Has she been checked for other things as well? Many other things can mimic Lyme disease symptoms, and while she obviously has been tested for and has Lyme disease, she should probably ask the doctor if there is another underlying illness going on. I don't want to begin to venture, but if her biggest problems are muscle pain and fatigue, other illnesses can cause that too, including autoimmune ones.

Gum Disease, Had For Years And Now Seeing About Apr 17, 2014
I had gum surgery years ago, never again. Total misery for months, like ongoing birth except no drugs to help me out. Told my dentist all the teeth could fall out before that again so that is how strongly I feel about it. Fast forward now, I am reading on line about laser surgery, lesser pain, fast recovery and wanting to know if others had this and if so what was the outcome. ...

I underwent an Achilles tendon repair 6 weeks ago, went for one of my postop visits a couple of days ago and about 2 cm of my incision has opened and may be infected. My doctor started me on some major antibiotics, 2000 mg of Keflex a day, and has referred me for wound care treatment, trying to get this healed quickly so I can start physical therapy. I have been on a walker and absolutely no weightbearing on the surgical leg for 6 weeks, so kind of anxious about getting this thing going. Any ...

This is the hospital I worked in for years. I also was a patient over the years. Sometimes our little hospital has to send people there if they cannot provide the right services (ours a little hospital). Latest on this is that the person got Legionnaire's from the hospital. Said the tests won't come back for at least 10 days, ...
