It is so strange that people want to argue over politicians/politics as if one side is the devil and the other side has all the answers.  They are all crooks and liars and to spend time defending any of these corrupt lowlifes is beyond ridiculous.

;

Government is not the answer, but as a result of many - government policies and partisan

politics we are all paying the price.

Illegal immigration is one issue. The fact that some people can't tell the difference between legal and illegal is mind blowing.

When the Constitution was written, political parties were - called factions acting only for their

[ In Reply To ..]
own selfish interests rather than the public good.

Hamilton was for big government and Jefferson for states' right, fearing a big government would become a monarchy.

In 1854 the govt was getting corrupt and people from both sides came together to try and form a new party.

I really don't see that happening now because too many people are dependent on big govt to let that go and the population has increased.

I really don't see that happening either. Take - away the big donations

[ In Reply To ..]
from this group or that, get the lobbyists out of Washington and take away the benefits members of Congress get and watch how things would change. The problem is that won't happen.

We need to be consistent with this, too. Not just depending - on which clown runs the circus

[ In Reply To ..]
so to speak.

I agree that they are crooks and liars, but some of - the arguing is valid. Case in point,

[ In Reply To ..]
why let illegals come here without becoming citizens? If they don't to obey US law, then why should I? Then you have a political party justifying it and the media playing along as if those who oppose it are somehow fascist and racist.

The media plays a big role in spreading discontent. They are just as bad as politicians. Why? Because of politics. That's it. Not US law or what's best for America. Just politics.

As an addendum, I knew the republicans were lying - when they ran on repealing obamacare.

[ In Reply To ..]
Maybe not all of them, but most of them are part of the big boys club of Washington DC and like it.

Washington is not listening to us. They are a joke. - They all look at us as voting

[ In Reply To ..]
blocs which means power.

I believe in the private sector and people. Necessity is the mother of invention. We already have alternatives to health care pop up. Direct payment groups, religious sharing groups, etc.

People can solve problems w/o doing it for power.
They don't listen to each other either. Watch journalists - when they go to a press briefing.
[ In Reply To ..]
They never even listen to the answer because they are too busy getting their accusations out there.

Case in point. Stephen Miller and CNN's Jim Acosta.
Today's REPUBLICANS in Washington are a joke. - And a tragedy. But then
[ In Reply To ..]
Republican voters knew that when they put them in power. And did it anyway.

The big problem isn't in DC, scary as what's going on there is, it's right here in our own homes.

United we stand, divided we fall. Really simple.

United we stand. Divided we get screwed.

By the way, everything you posted about doing yourself just now the Democrats had detailed, workable plans to fix. We know they're workable because in many cases our parents' generations implemented them and they worked good for over half a century until we trashed them. In other cases, other nations have been doing it for decades and wonder what on earth is wrong with us for suffering so foolishly.

United we stand.
You are not a uniter, you are a divider - So all dems are good and republicans are bad. LOL
[ In Reply To ..]
What a crock. They are all blowhards who only care about the money they can accumulate while in power taking bribes for votes and if you think Democrats are not driven by greed as well as Republicans you aren't paying attention.

United we stand while pointing fingers at the other party as the bad guys. They are ALL bad guys.

There are some groups claiming the press is being - silenced but had not problem when the

[ In Reply To ..]
Tea Party was silenced. There is a lot of inconsistency on both sides.

Just don't go over the cliff with everyone else. Stop listening to the talking heads on TV.

as opposed to ... what? The alt-right rags and blogs that are constantly posted by the right on this site? Yeah, I'll stick to real news.

Well here we go again. One party against the other - LOL

[ In Reply To ..]
There is no real news. There are PAID commentators giving opinions and depending on what the network agenda is, the bias will show with what the commentators are paid to say. You won't get anti-Trump commentary on FOX and you won't get pro-Trump commentary on MSNBC or CNN. The "news" is given by paid talking heads with an agenda.

party against party and it's exhibited on this site daily. I will listen to the news that I choose. The news does not sway me one way or the other. I don't need news to form my opinions on party lines. I'll vote for the best candidate despite party as I've always had. Too much blame is being placed on the news, and yes it's NEWS whether you agree with it or not.
The "news" is biased plain and simple - what they report and what they ignore
[ In Reply To ..]
will support their political agenda and what you choose to watch as "news" will support your political views. I used to watch Morning Joe until it became an anti-Trump bitchfest. I'm not pro Trump or pro any political party but to watch the pile up against Trump gets old. I have switched from cable news shows to Today, GMA and lastly CBS Morning Show.

I have no dog in this political fight. I agree with the OP, I think the politicians on both sides are all double-talking and corrupt.
I agree with the OP - sm

with the politicians being corrupt and liars. Always have been, always will be. This non-politician in office now is one of, if not THE worst when it comes to lying, deceit and corruption. Your opinion on news is yours, I don't agree with it. The anti trump stuff is brought on by his lying, hateful, disgusting mouth and he deserves whatever is thrown at him. I don't need news to form an opinion on him, he does that all by himself just by opening the hole in his face. Maybe if he wants the "bashing" to stop, he should shut his mouth, try to learn his job and quit blaming everyone but himself for the piling on.
I agree with you and the OP that all are - double-tallking and corrupt
[ In Reply To ..]
I generally watch CBS Morning show and have been told CBS is anti-Trump. In fact, anything that is not Fox is called anti-Trump. What people don't understand is he creates the news and they report it. He thrives on the attention whether good or bad. I'm not pro anybody but I am anti-Trump and it's not because of the news shows I watch.

Back during JFK Washington Post's Ben Bradlee - covered up a lot about his

affairs and other things including the Mary Pinchot Meyer murder.

Disinformation in education is a problem, too. Take the true - history of the Statue of Liberty.

[ In Reply To ..]
It has nothing to do with immigration. Emma Lazarus poem did not appear on the pedestal until 1903. They were trying to raise money for a pedestal and had a contest and she won it.

The Statue of Liberty does not point to the United States. The Statue of Liberty points outward, away from the United States. It is a beacon of liberty and freedom, a symbol for the rest of the world. It has nothing to do with immigration.

No only that, but the statue itself was a trial run and a marketing gimmick for the sculptor because he wanted to build and even larger one similar in Egypt at the (then) new Suez Canal. He had a devil of a time getting France to sponsor it and even harder time getting NYC scions to pony up the location and the money to build the base ... nobody was much interested.

It's also where we get the word "gadget" from. The word gadget first appeared in 1886, the year the French gave America the Statue of Liberty.

That same year, a man named Gaget, one of the partners in the French company that had built the Liberty, conceived the idea of creating miniature statues to sell to Americans in Paris as souvenirs.

The Americans mispronounced “Gaget” and called the miniatures Liberty's “gadgets,” and a new word for something small was born.

Not at all the glamorous stuff we were taught in grade school.

It’s a very interesting story to read.

Liberty's Torch: The Great Adventure to Build the Statue of Liberty by Elizabeth Mitchell

Immigration is now being taught as though it's some - kind of entitlement.

[ In Reply To ..]
It's not.

The true story of Thanksgiving is not taught either. - In school it's taught that it was

[ In Reply To ..]
a feast to thank the Indians, but that's not true. It was a feast to thank God. It lasted for three days or longer.

William Bradford wrote extensively about things in his diary.

“They thanked God for the guidance found in the Bible...”

First Grader Not Able To Focus, Wrote About This AwhileNov 02, 2014
I tried to find the message and answers but unable to do so. One person was very informative about a child she knew, perhaps related? One person talked about a test to give a child to find out what he knew, how to learn, etc. and I need some more input if possible. The mother has tried to and the only thing they did was test the child to see if he spoke English, yes to that but he is not focusing. I told the mother every school system should have something in effect to help students because seem ...

and throwing their hats into the ring for the upcoming elections next year, I decided to sift through the archives of this board, going back to 2008 election and up to Obama's inauguration.  It was interesting to read all the very heated posts on both sides of the party lines.  In January of 2009, the last thing I posted on the subject of Obama was: "Time will reveal King Obama's inexperience and shortcomings." It made me wonder, where are all those passionate Obama support ...

Phew, it has gotten really nasty on this board with each side acusing the other of insults and nastiness.  All I have to say is there are none so blind as those who will not see.  I also see a lot of ganging up and bullying.  Therefore, I am going to try to start keeping some sort of score.  At the very least, maybe it will encourage people to be more civil to one another.  Everyone should also understand that on most political forums there are people who drive by and po ...
