stand back citizens and see whose money buys the republican nomination.  Huntsman zillionaire father funding his Super PAC but really pales when compared to Romney's kagillions.  Newt infuriated with Romney slap ads now has Vegas billionaire putting 5 million up for Newt to fight back.  What does this have to do with the average citizen?  Absolutely nothing, unless you consider elections important.

This is one post I agree with, but we also need to add to it - what if

First I have to say I'm a little dissapointed in the republicans. Maybe not disappointed, but more afraid. Not afraid of the candidates themselves, but afraid there isn't going to be someone strong enough to win. It does bother me a bit to read about all the money backing some of these candidates. Especially MR. When you read about the millions/billions he received it just gives me a sick feeling. That and his record (which isn't the best), and his religion ties is just very worrisome. Huntsman - I didn't know his father was a "zillionaire" I didn't even know there was such a thing. LOL. I don't know him or his record, but reading about him spending a lot of time in China makes me wonder why. Sanitorium just kind of creeps me out. I read that even his relatives say he is one of the most crooked politicians (but is that anything new?). I think "big money" really worries me. Who are these people pouring so much money into candidates and what do they have to benefit from. And sorry, this lie about "all my donations come from little ol ladies who send in $1" doesn't fly, so if anyone tries that stunt again I'll just retch.

What I want to hear from the candidates, which I have not yet heard is what have they done in their careers as politicians that have benefitteds the people of the country. What bills did they vote for or against. How will them being president affect all of our lives. Does any of these candidates even have any plans to get the people of the country back working again? Do any of them know how to create jobs.

I'm fearful that the dems will regain power once again and that is not good for the country, but is there a candidate out there who really can win over whats in there, and if someone else gets in there will we really see any changes or will it still be the same thing (galliant parties with the Mad Hatter, etc, date nights, showing off their "bling", not working with anyone not associated with their party, dividing people against each other, continuation of wars, being backed by people who benefit from this and wall street, etc, etc).

But the one thing to add is it is no different on the democrats side.

Just is a very uneasy time.

Hey What if...agree about the uneasiness, but I am not fearful. Sometimes this whole process helps things shake out. Wait till Obama throws his Billion (yes billion with a B) into the mix. Bet he got that from little old ladies pledging a $1.00. Since Obama refused to use the process by which they screen contributions to assure the legality, pretty hard to tell. Keep writing, good messages. If you really behave, me and Z will send you that box of Sno Balls you got your eye on!

MMMMMM - love those Snoballs - Sis and I.... - what if

used to play with the coconut marshmallow cover and stretch it over our faces. LOL. (of course we were kids).

I guess I am just so uneasy that this crap can go on for another 4 years. When is someone going to save us. I guess I just read so much dirt about the republican candidates that it makes me uneasy. I hope I'm wrong, but I know the slimy politicians that dig up dirt on them (watched what they did to McCain/Palin - even though I was not fans of them and didn't vote for them), it was sickening what they did to them. That's why I'm fearful if the republicans do not have a good strong candidate we're going to be in for another four years. Ahhhh...I see you remember the $1 stunt :-) So between candidates (all of them on all sides) accepting billions to that, and now with website monitoring (and Hostess bankrupcy) sure is an uneasy time.

My sisters and I did the same thing, but we were 27 and 29 and it occurred usually after a few beers :) Obviously kidding. I can certainly understand your unease. The Lame Street Media did the same thing to candidates that some try to do on this board. You can always find accurate information on all of them. Nobody is perfect as we all know, but at least you can independently review what you need to make a strong decision. If any one did to Hilary what was done to Palin, there would be outrage everywhere. The sad part is on this board, if you do not share that party line, you are immediately disrespected and they think it is okay to write to you the same way. What I have noticed, is after so many people fought back and would not take it, the flamers dropped way back. Now everybody pretty knows who they are, there are no facts or substance to their posts, and they are passed by. No one gives a thought regarding what they have to say, except the few that share that hatred (or as one post said, it is probably all the same person). She should go to Scotland Yard. About they only thing they fight you with now is their "dislike" vote...big deal. An easy way to wade through a lot of this filth, is look at the agenda or motivation of the person flinging the filth, either in the liberal press about the repubs or on this board. Once you know their motivation, pretty easy to get rid of those without any credibility. Those that just want to scream and fight will continue to do so, but that falls on deaf ears and their point is completely lost by any legit reader or voter. Good post by Reader99, if you have not seen it. I had family that lived through Weimar Republic...It's what happens when you trample our Constitution, but you have people on this board that are totally clueless.

If you want the actual record of votes for each candidate, you can get that info from congressional records, or you can go to each candidate's web site and see how they voted there: "Present", yeah or nay. It takes a little digging. It will list the issues, bills, laws, votes, final votes of how many dems, repubs, etc. Depends which site you go through as to how listed. It's a start!!

I have to say, I voted for Obama and will vote for him again (flame away). I truly am not a democrat or a republican. Now, you can knock Obama, and I don't agree with everything he does, but at least he has tried. I'm sorry but I like having a healthcare plan for everyone. No, I'm not a leech sucking the government freebies. I pay my own insurance. I think he is trying to create jobs and has been successful to a point. He cannot do it all. I am disappointed in things he has done too, mainly cowering to the republicans and not doing things to get jobs back home from offshore. I think that is just a total government thing, though.

With all that said, I do try to hear what the republicans have to say. I have not heard one specific thing they are going to do. I just hear them say Obama is bad or the other republican candidate is bad. They spend all kinds of money to run each other down and can't just stick to the facts on what they are going to do. No, this is not just the republicans, it is politicians in general. I'm so tired of the game playing. I wish they would just state what they would do that is so much better than Obama instead of just saying he doesn't know what he's doing. Frankly, I believe nothing will get done any better if a republican is in there either. Until there is a nonpartisan political system, we are going to be facing this whether it is a republican or democrat as president.

I truly believe that if a republican had been put in office instead of Obama, it would be no different than it is now. This country was in horrible shape thanks to George Bush (yes I said it). Anyone who would have been taking over that mess would be in trouble.

Frankly, I don't even want to turn the television on anymore because I am so tired of the degrading of each other and not saying how they are going to change this country.

Just my opinion, have a nice day.

Agree with nothing you wrote. You asked for specific points, here goes.

All republican ideas.
_ Decrease capital gains.
_ Make health care competitive across state lines.
_ Make health insurance fluid (can move from state to state, job to job).
_ Tax holiday for money to be brought back from overseas and invest it here.
_ Tax credits for hiring a vet.
_ Tax incentives to hire period.
_ Finalize negotations with Canada for pipeline resulting in immediate 20,000 jobs (best guesstimate so far).
_ Ban China from drilling oil off of Florida shoreline.
_ Lift EPA bands for domestic drilling off of Florid shoreline for USA.
_ BALANCE THE BUDGET - Which has never been done the entire time Obama in office. All attempts to do so have been rejected.

There are 10 there, off the top of my head....incidentally, all of the above opposed by Obama. No, I do not like anything about him. His OTJ training has cost me several thousands of dollars in income (and yes, it is all documented), not to mention my health insurance.

For those wondering, no name used for posting, I used your "sm".

I've just been researching some of your information.

Obama is supporting credits for hiring vets.
The tax holiday was a failure in 2004, so why try it again.
A republican wants regulations eased on drilling off the coast of Florida. By the way the Cuban government are the ones drilling near the coast of Florida and a republican wants our regulations eased for us to drill there.
Budget was balanced when Clinton was in office, went haywire when GW was in office.

You asked for specific things in relationship to Obama and repblican ideas, which is what was posted. You got 10 items, can easily give you 10 more. It was nice Obama got behind the vet hiring, but not his idea. Cubans are NOT the only people drilling off the coast of Florida. No one disputed that Clinton balanced the budget, along with Gingrich. The tax holiday you are referring to has nothing to do with the offshore funds. Can you say 9-1-1 and oh by the way...Bush ALSO was the beneficiary of a recession from Clinton in March of his first term, but very few people ever want to discuss that recession. You were specifically going on about how poor Obama, blocked every way. Not true. Obama had complete control of Senate/House for 2 solids years; had control of the House since 2006 through 2010 (4 years). Obama cannot blame the republicans for what Obama could not get his own party to do. Keep doing your research... you have a long way to go. Again, used "sm" as original poster obviously likes that moniker.

Why do the primaries have to be separated? - Zville MT

[ In Reply To ..]
In this day and age, with all the multi-media outlets and internet, why can't all the primaries be held on one day? All the candidates could get their messages out with several debates, commercials, and websites over a period of time, maybe three months, and then we all vote at the same time. This would not only eliminate the need for so much money, but candidates would have to make sure their message gets across of what they would do if elected, which leaves them with little time to bash each other (which I'm getting really sick of!) I hate the fact that everyone already assumes Mitt Romney is the nominee after a primary in only one state!!!

My money is on you girl...pass out the super sized Twinkies and we'll all be voting for you! On a serious note, no one candidate will ever have what each person wants. I start with issues that are important to me and keep narrowing down my list of candidates until we reach our primary. It is a tedious, time consuming process, but it is worth the effort. I agree, 4 more years of what we currently have will force us into Greece, and we are well on our way. Heard Goolsby (Obama economic adviser) state today that economy is much worse than what is being stated. He said that unemployment, due to the people that quit looking, is about 16%; not good. I have to laugh when I read someone's post about the Repubs imploding because I got a call from a Dem poller asking if I would vote for Hilary. Also there was a dem strategist saying that they were polling to see if people were receptive to Biden stepping down and Hilary be placed as VP. That combo is no better than what is there now. Hilary is Obama in a skirt. On top of that, add the people leaving the admin in the last year and it is nothing but complete confusion...no wonder the Mad Hatter had such a good time. Obama cannot keep his own team in the White House together.

I guess it's different depending on where you get your facts. I got the top 50 of 2011 and 32 of them are republicans, with the top 2 being republicans.

Do you think that maybe it has to do with in 2010 most of congress was democrat and in 2011 most of congress is republican? Don't you think they are all rich and have no clue about the real world?

It is nice to see someone such as yourself that actually gave reasonable thought to this without insulting the previous poster. I know I will be checking the list you mentioned. Your premise may be on target, but I like to do my own research. They are way too many on this board that never post a fact, just come out of the gate swinging. I appreciate that YOU did not do that, but actually list a post for all of us to see. Now, you'll probably have the detectives complaining because you only used "sm"...LOL.

[ In Reply To ..]
what "someone such as yourself" means, but whatever. To the "sm" police, sm merely means see message. Many use it on here. Just as "nm" means no message. When I see sm, I know there is a message. When I see nm I no there is no message.

I have found that whenever politics are discussed, there are arguments. We learned that from our leaders.

I know what "sm" and "nm" mean, but some on this board went nuts and wrote very nasty messages because of its use...personally, I don't care either way. I know it is on here all the time and the very person doing the complaining used it when it suited their purpose. I meant nothing by "someone such as yourself" other than it was a complement to see the facts listed, meaning that you actually took the time to benefit all of us with that post - someone such as yourself as opposed to those that only want to fight and insult. Too many on here never bother to list any facts and I thought your post was helpful. Nothing to read into it.

Just saw the list you posted thurs of wealthiest politicians. I have no quarrel with the opinion that some politicians enrich themselves in office.  My concern is with the SuperPACs being unleashed in this election.  SuperPACs are making ads that are influencing elections.  Newt was doing well until Mitt's SuperPAC spent millions on ads. His popularity then dropped rapidly.  The SuperPACs are backed by big money whose goal is to get what THEY want, not what is good ...

Now for the worrisome twist: The cash portion of their compensation rose 8.3 percent. That's a sign that companies are de-emphasizing long-term incentives for their top guys, a par ...
