YUP, everything that is happening, the whole

Posted: Nov 28, 2012

war we have been in, the reason each poor person is poor, it was all President Bush's fault.

Unbelievable, you guys are even jealous of the little guy who works for the rich guy finding ways to make the rich guy richer.

I for one, do NOT want anyone distributing any of the money I work for it, whether it be easy work working for a rich guy or whether it be slave labor.  I earned it, YOU don't deserve any of it.....guess what, don't hold your breath, you are not going to get any of the money they take from the rich.....

And, BTW, I am willing to pay more taxes if it helps keep America a democracy with freedom for ALL.....even the rich.

;

Who's trying to take whose freedom again? I lose track. - grits

Smarter people than I have tried to explain this issue here on the board. I don't understand how asking the rich to pay a more (read, a fair share) of taxes (which you stated you are willing to do, and I bet you're not in the 1%) is stripping them of freedom.

Please to explain?

Once again putting words in the - poster's mouth

Nothing was said about taking freedom away from the rich, the poster said,

"BTW, I am willing to pay higher taxes if it means keeping America a democracy with freedom for all....even the rich."

Since you cannot understand what was said, the poster wants a free country for EVERYONE and the poster is willing to make sacrifices if it will help.

Such negativity.....so blinding.....so closed-minded.

The ability to read context was taught to me in elementary school. - grits

answering my question about how the rich ponying up for their fair share of taxes is a threat to freedom?

If you're not, since you're evidently in agreement with the OP, maybe you can shed some light.
No answer needed, it was never stated - in the original post.

No such statement mentioned in the original post, therefore, no answer to your question from this poster. I am the OP. YOU twisted MY words around.

Since you need clarification, I, the OP, feel that all people deserve the same rights. I also feel that generally, the rich get richer because they usually continue to work the hours, sacrifice, delay gratification, and make the good decisions that made them wealthy. I work in a very diverse population, from doctors to janitors, working in an OR at a Level I Trauma Center, operating 24/7. It amazes me to see staff physicians working extra hours on the weekend to get "salary points." Yet when there is a call-in for an entry or mid-level support staff position, it is next to impossible to get someone to come in and work on their day off. There’s no mystery or conspiracy to why the rich get richer, just envy and jealousy.

Someone will probably come back with some comment accentuating on a "big name person" when indeed the majority of the considered rich....have no fame. Amazing how the little 83-year- old man down the street living in a little 4 room house dies...and low-in-behold...he's left his children $375,000. Bet he worked hard for that money, I bet he worked extra hours, saved, sacrificed, never ask for anything from anyone.

The truth is that the earnings of both the so-called 1 percent (the supposedly rich) and the 99 percent (the supposedly poor) shift dramatically over the years.

Of course, by all means poverty is a serious social concern for all. But, it is really sad that the social push who claims to be the most concerned demands defining the world in class terms.

And yes, I work a second job in the world of remote medical transcription. So I am entitled to post on this board, rarely do, but somehow just couldn't resist tonight.

With this said, I will go back to work and continue to work in hopes of eventually making my 1st million.
There is a huge difference - grits

between your 83-year-old man's 375k and the obscene amounts of money amassed by the likes of the Waltons, Koch brothers, et al, on the backs of people like your 83-year-old man and his kids.

I've read over your post a couple of times trying to divine your point. I'm still not sure what it is. What do doctors, janitors, and "salary points" have to do with the proposal to bring the super-wealthy's taxes up to a level that can be considered fair?

I stand by my interpretation of the last line in the OP. If you need to state that you want a "free America for all, even the rich," the subtext is clear - you think that freedom is in jeopardy, namely for the rich. If you mean something different, do tell.

It's interesting that the self-made billionaires that actually did work long hours and sacrifice (Gates and Buffett to name a few) do support taxing the super-rich at the same rate as the middle class.

Regarding doctors and other similar professionals that do make a good sum of money: They are still taxed at the lower rate for everything they make under $250,000. Anything above that is the higher rate, so many of whom I myself would consider "rich" still get the benefit of a low rate for their first 250. (I'm not sure if the OP to whom you responded was aware of this.)

So.... do ya want that pillow back? ;-)
Thanks, my head's hard but it's not indestructible - grits

What I took from this post was that you - were basically saying SM
[ In Reply To ..]
that people who are rich go the extra mile and those who are not are not willing to go the extra mile, right? I interpret this to mean the people who are not rich are lazy, you know, that 47 percent of the population that Mitt talked about? This is my "interpretation" of your post so there is no questioning of what you said or did not say or what you meant or did not mean. Oh, BTW, I disagree with your post.

mmm, I heard it too - sm

Despite passionate arguments to the contrary, the OP suggests that freedom for all somehow does not also include freedom for the rich.

very, very wealthy people. Although people talk about the "1%", most of the siphoning of money that was once paid AS EARNINGS to working people is to the top 1% of that 1%.

They don't bother to thank the tens of millions of lower-income conservatives for their assistance in bringing this about, BTW. They know the "base" wouldn't have helped if it'd understood what was going on. Their business managers hire companies and pay THEM to arrange its compliance. Another reason why this election had me smiling--there are a bunch of fired cowpokes out there, I bet. Careers in flames. :)

Is this staged or for real? Only time will tell. At least four people were killed and dozens of others were injured when militiamen opened fire as they defended one of the bases. Looters carried weapons out of the vacated Ansar al-Sharia military base compound, which has been linked to the attack on the US consulate last week. The US ambassador to Libya and three other Americans died in the attack. Ansar al-Sharia has denied any involvement. The action against the group appeared to be part ...
