Something Positive

This gives me a lot more confidence in Romney than what I had before.

This uplifting story is totally true.   So good to hear a positive story about a candidate since the media takes delight in scraping up every negative thing they can to broadcast about conservatives.

Yep, character does matter, and what we have been hearing in the
media recently has been quite shocking. I thought you might like to
see another side of one of the candidates. It appears there is more
to the Bain Capital story than is being told, so I hope this story
  below is informative.

Romney's character.... This facet of Romney's personality isn't so subtle.

In July 1996, the 14-year-old daughter of Robert Gay, a partner at
Bain Capital, had disappeared. She had attended a rave party in New
York City and gotten high on ecstasy. Three days later, her
distraught father had no idea where she was.

Romney took immediate action. He closed down the entire firm and
asked all 30 partners and employees to fly to New York to help find
Gay's daughter. Romney set up a command center at the LaGuardia
Marriott and hired a private detective firm to assist with the search.
He established a toll-free number for tips, coordinating the effort
with the NYPD, and went through his Rolodex and called everyone Bain
did business with in New York, and asked them to help find his
 friend's missing daughter.

Romney's accountants at Price Waterhouse Cooper put up posters on
street poles, while cashiers at a pharmacy owned by Bain put fliers in
the bag of every shopper. Romney and the other Bain employees scoured
every part of New York and talked with everyone they could -
  prostitutes, drug addicts - anyone.

That day, their hunt made the evening news, which featured photos
of the girl and the Bain employees searching for her. As a result, a
teenage boy phoned in, asked if there was a reward, and then hung up
abruptly. The NYPD traced the call to a house in New Jersey, where
they found the girl in the basement, shivering and experiencing
withdrawal symptoms from a massive ecstasy dose. Doctors later said
the girl might not have survived another day.

Romney's former partner credits Mitt Romney with saving his
daughter's life, saying, "It was the most amazing thing, and I'll
never forget this to the day I die."

So, here's my epiphany: Mitt Romney simply can't help himself. He
sees a problem, and his mind immediately sets to work solving it,
sometimes consciously, and sometimes not-so-consciously. He doesn't
do it for self-aggrandizement, or for personal gain. He does it
because that's just how he's wired.

Many people are unaware of the fact that when Romney was asked by
his old employer, Bill Bain, to come back to Bain & Company as CEO to
rescue the firm from bankruptcy, Romney left Bain Capital to work at
Bain & Company for an annual salary of one dollar.

When Romney went to the rescue of the 2002 Salt Lake Olympics, he
accepted no salary for three years, and would not use an expense
account. He also accepted no salary as Governor of Massachusetts.

Character counts!! (and yes...that's worth reading again!)

It's nice to hear something positive about one of the candidates for a change.

no question Romney - has done some fine

things in his life. He appears to be a great husband and father. It is his policies and lack of core convictions I disagree with. The fact that he chose Bork as his advisor is extremely alarming. rather sad that the best things that can be said about a republican nominee is that he did some generous things in his career and life.

Thank you for posting such an uplifting post - what if - sm

I think all in all, Romney is a more compassionate person. He may not be perfect, and at least people don't worship him and believe he's some kind of god, but I think all in all he is more compassionate of people, and at least he'd have enough sense not to stand up at a WH correspondence dinner and make fun and laugh at people suffering.

I believe he has better character that the current one.

Go Romney

True... Romney has a lot more class and character - than the current president, no doubt ! nm

i think they are both - decent men

Do not need to slander one in order to elevate the other.
In comparison... well, there IS no comparison. - Obama's character always in question
[ In Reply To ..]
Look at his affiliations, friendships with racists and terrorists... his "character" is a scary thing. He is also a class divider... putting us all at war against each other.. sad.
you know it sister - Obama is/was nothing but trouble

Posters on here can spin until they're dizzy, but it doesn't change the fact that Obama has a questionable history at best. You know the old saying "birds of a feather" and "show the man's friends and I'll tell you about the man." Now watch...any minute the poster hauling around the race card will be on here. She's so predictable.
I agree but most republicans on this board think Obama - has horns. nm

The truth is that Obama and Romney are copies of each - sm

other except one is ebony and one is ivory. That is the only difference. Romney is just posturing for the far right trying to convince them he is a conservative. He will continue this deception until the election. What happens after the election should he win will just be a continuation of the Obama agenda. They are both moderates, neither liberal nor conservative.
You must live in the Land of Oz - Obama VOTED most liberal in Senate

repeatedly. But then, one only knows that if they actually research and read something besides MM or HuffPo or the endless lib rags.
Nope, not true. I am the most liberal senator and proud of it. - Bernie Sanders....nm

Romney was pro-choice and pro-socialized health care. - sounds liberal to me

both are moderates - contrary to contemporary

rhetoric. They say it like it is a bad thing. Reality valiantly struggles to break the surface. bless its little heart.
Same way Dems think about anyone that - disagrees with them, mirror/ mirror

I don't think that is true. There are a lot of things I like... - sm

about Mitt Romney. He has always been a moderate. My only concern is does he really understand what us peons are going through? I just don't like anyone of either party condoning the idea that coorporations are people and their limitless money can buy elections.
Then you should hate Obama - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Obama completely out of touch, owned by Soros, over 50% of his cabinet/staff came from Goldman-Sachs, and has no concern for anyone other than all things Obama.
Which posts lead you to believe that - Never read anything of the sort

I have not read any post on this board that would even elude to that. Which posts in particular are you talking about.
but they dont - really

Asking For Some Prayers And Positive ThoughtsMar 24, 2012
I am asking for prayers and good thoughts concerning a possible job opportunity.  I lost my job at the end of February (due to my own stupidity) and have been having a hard time finding work since.  I have applied for unemployment, however, it is the process of being appealed right now, so basically, I am down to nil nothing as far as a cash flow is concerned. At my age (56), I am too old to consider retraining for another career field and I was born slightly cerebral palsied, where s ...

Do Republicans Have Anything Positive To Say About CandidatesApr 16, 2015

What you libs don't seem to understand is that, though flawed, Donald Trump's message was better than Hillary Clinton's. Read further down this board when someone asked why people voted for Trump. If you want to focus on gutter speak and negative, stay there. The rest of us want to make America great again! To those staying in the gutter, you are opening yourselves up to a lot of trash that you may not want to hear, starting with the pathological lying that HC is known for as w ...

I Have Chosen To Be Positive And Happy.Jul 07, 2017
As a liberal, I was listening to leftist radio, reading leftist literature and watching mainstream TV day in and day out. I was falling into the trap of believing the negativity and really feeling hopeless, angry and surly. A few months ago, I decided to devote one day to listening to conservative radio, reading right-leaning literature and watching Fox. I felt happier and more hopeful. I investigated the "talking heads" on Fox and thought, "Hmmm, these are some very powerful, important and i ...
