SOTU

Posted: Jan 25, 2011

Are you going to watch the SOTU tonight?  What do you think about everyone sitting together and mixing it up?  Personally, I think the new seating arranagements are silly and are just for show - a Kumbaya moment.

Do you think the U.S. Supreme Court justices should attend?

I don't plan to watch it.... - mmmmm

I am so tired of hearing Obama speak that I would rather hear someone else recap later. I've got lots of other stuff Tivo'd so I don't have to watch it.

Not watching either. O is an excellent speaker (with a teleprompter that is) - sm

but I don't have time to listen to lip service and grandiose ideas. He is much better suited to motivational speaking, not leading (and not very well) the country.

the teleprompter thing - ... so juvenile

.
I agree....that is about as juvenile - tired of it

as those who keep bringing up Palin WRITING ON HER HAND. Ridiculous on both accounts. People need to stick to real arguments instead of this childish bantering.

I don't plan to watch either. I heard the capsulated ideas he has - Backwards Typist

and am curious as to how he expects to accomplish his spending plans and banning earmarks. Funny how he wants to get the deficit under control by spending, yet wants a balanced budget plus banning earmarks. Those items don't come about by just saying it. I believe the pubs wanted ban earmarks a couple months ago but the dems wouldn't go along with it.

I'm also curious about the seating arrangements and how many will mix it up. I know of 5 so far. That's not a great number.

I will watch - comment about the seating plan - Independent

I will watch even though I get frustrated every time I hear him lying about something.

I will watch because I'm interested if he will for once tell the truth about something, and am listing for other announcements.

About the seating plan...I believe he is trying to mix it up so that it doesn't look so one-sided with so many people against his ideas. I think he is also trying to mix it up to make it look like he is bipartison when he is not. One of those - if they are all mingled it will look like everyone agrees with me rather than showing so obvious so many who are not. That's just my opinion and it will be interesting to see what goes on. I just hope I don't fling something at the TV when I hear him repeatedly lie like the last SOTU.

Curious...did you fling something at the TV? - Backwards Typist

So, the President stated he will 'try' to work with the pubs this year? I hope he goes further than that and 'listens' and not hold his hands over his ears when the pubs suggest something.

I didn't hear any MSM mention tort reform/fraud/malpractice in healthcare, but it was brought up by the pubs quite a bit to deaf ears.

Today, he's on the road again. Geez, he spent more time on the road in the past 2 years than DH did.

I'm sure other countries just loved to hear his "out-educate and "out-innovate" our country, which would be great, but how will he achieve that without raising taxes or add additional spending?

Oh no no no. - Oh bummer

Didn't you hear Obama? He wants to INVEST....not spend. INVEST...because investing is totally different than spending...right? Bahahaha!

Freezing spending but not cutting spending but he wants to INVEST in many things. I'm sorry but isn't investing and spending...kinda the same thing. It takes money to invest in things. Not sure how he is gonna manage a spending freeze while investing in all he wants to. Sounds like a major contradiction.
Only problem is he wants to freeze spending at current levels - Backwards Typist

BTW, good ting you didn't fling anything at your TV. They're expensive to replace...Oh, but then you'd be contributing to a job, so maybe you should have. LOL

Back to the subject. He doesn't want to cut spending, just freeze it. I have a feeling he's also going to try for cap and trade from the way he was speaking in Wisconsin.

I heard 2 other things today that I'm hoping to get some info on before I post it here.

Oops - forgot to answer your question about SCJ - Indpendent

No, I don't think they should attend. Not after he lied and trashed them the last time.

Okay, that lasted about 20 minutes - waste of my time

I'm sick of hearing the ongoing campaign speech from 2 years ago.

The only good thing is not seeing peelousy's face anymore.

Next time I'll schedule a root canal during another speech. That will be more enjoyable.

The best part was not seeing the joker/botox queen over his shoulder - sm

jumping up and down like a jack in the box and applauding every single thing he said! I'd rather have the ultratan crybaby over miss nancy any day!

I can't believe CNN had Michelle Bachmann on - What's with that? nm

Last Night's SOTUJan 29, 2014
Well, I thought the President basically lacked passion last night. Nothing he said was with conviction like we've seen in the past. I did not find him believable. The only positive thing I really heard was that he seemed to acknowledge that the economy had not improved during his 5 years in office and he wanted the CEOs of the country to pay their people more money (obviously, I'm paraphrasing here). Hopefully, the CEOs of the MTSOs will take heed and listen to the Commander in Ch ...
