THE REST OF THE STORY! This current Carter action is the result of declassified information given to President Mauricio Macri that was promised to him by President Obama. President Trump made good on Obama's promise and the declassified information released showed our government backed a "dirty" war committed by Argentine military from 1976 to 1983 when Carter was president.

He just turned documents over to Argentina and they read and "interpreted" the documents and decided what they wanted to do about Carter. Trump did not tell them what to do. He would not have released the declassified documents had Obama not promised them. Aside from that what most leftists forget is Trump has many advisors who could "interpret" the declassified documents and explain what they implied, which is Carter may have been involved in the "dirty" war.

Spin away to suit your leftist needs but it does not make sense that Trump interpreted documents for the Argentine president and then explained them and told him what to do about Carter. What planet do you live on you think Trump would have a sit down and go through hundreds of pages of information and explain them to the Argentine president.

I misinterpreted nothing other than the Argentine president acted on the "dirty" war that was backed by our government according to declassified information.

They said Obama had promised this information, Trump followed through at their request and the Argentinians decided to hold off on the award to Carter obviously based on what they read in a "trove" of declassified information from various agencies in US regarding involvement in a dirty war during the years Carter was president.

either way. I do see the first link saying they squashed the award due to pressure from the Trump administration. It also says that the award was "delayed." So, it is questionable whether the award is actually squashed or delayed and I doubt Trump urged it. I also see in the second link that it nowhere says Carter was involved in the dirty war. It says US officials may have been involved but does not mention Carter specifically. Keyword is "may" have.

We really don't know all the facts so it is really nothing worth arguing over.

My personal opinion is that I don't believe Trump urged anybody to do anything, the award in question is not squashed, it is delayed, and I know in my heart that Carter would not have been involved in "atrocities" towards human rights other than to fight them.

No hate toward either side, just don't know all the facts.

The only problem I have with the whole thing is post #1 where all the name-calling began blaming Trump on an ASSumption he had some reason to want the award stopped.

I don't know if there are paid trolls here to stir the Trump hatred pot or if leftist posters are that ignorant that they do not investigate further the allegation it was Trump who orchestrated it and that Trump misinterpreted the trove of documents regarding the dirty war and passed this misinterpretation onto Argentinean officials which caused the Carter award to be delayed.

Don't know of leftists are that stupid to report the story without looking into the background or if they hope readers are that stupid they will believe the one-sided story.

The one-sided article plus name-calling rant makes me think no one in their right mind would have accessed this article and not followed through with an investigation of their own before posting it. When I read it I did a search and found that Obama had promised to give the information to Argentina. I did not have to look far to get some background on this incident and the articles I read were not ocmplex and came from left-leaning media. This was accessible to the OP so why would they not follow through and get the information I got this morning unless they wanted to get Trump supporters fired up and switch allegiance to the left. That is not going to happen because of the way they present their fake case.

Who does this unless they are receiving money for spending time posting stuff like this. Same deal with left protestors. Maybe a few might want to protest but for the most part who would want to spend time off of work to hassle with a protest unless paid to put in the time.

This president is doing things on a daily basis that prove his instability. He is using his office to benefit he and his family's businesses. He is taking advantage of us. You haven't seen such protests because there was never a reason for this much protest as there is now.
