Facts don't sell as well as Fox poison - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Thoughts on this. This probably bodes well for Scott Walker. Apparently Fox attracts more uneducated Neanderthal couch potatoes living in their parent's basements than MSNBC does. MSNBC does not draw the conspiracy/hate viewers.
I for one would watch Maddow on Friday nights; however, I have a life on Friday nights.
I do not believe this reflects as much on Maddow, who has a very excellent informative show, but a reflection on MSNBC and their emphasis to truly balance out liberal and conservative opinions.
I think they should bring back Keith Olbermann as a lead-in show for Rachel. Also they need to get rid of the prison show after Rachel.
I think also that a lot of their viewership watch - ONLY Fox
[ In Reply To ..]
I mean, their viewers are so loyal they have been convinced ANY other channel (news-wise) is full of liberal lying media, so they never even check them out it seems.
I would guess many of these Fox News devotees would only deign to watch other conservative-approved shows, such as Duck Dynasty, anything with Sarah Palin, etc.
Megyn Kelly is there to attract younger viewers, and that seems to be working somewhat, but again I think the key to their ratings is that people who watch Fox News seem to watch it exclusively.
I watch Rachel when there is nothing on the major networks I like to watch or during the summer reruns, but I enjoy primetime drama and sitcoms when they are on and new. I just don't think MSNBC has the slavish following that Fox News does because liberals have more eclectic tastes and are not convinced they only have one source they can trust for everything.
I watch Rachel over internet - another view
[ In Reply To ..]
I think liberals do seek out more of their information via internet and mobile. I do not think this is counted in the stats. Also, I do not think there are any burning issues that attract liberal viewers. As it gets closer to the next election that will change. Its like this site, the liberals do not seem to be interested in posting here anymore, for many reasons, I suspect.
I just watched a few clips from her show. All she does - is bash conservatives!! (sm)

But I guess if you're into that kind of "news" and "information", more power to you. I prefer balanced news.
She actually had a show recently where she was - congratulating a conservative

His name is Richard Jankowski, former head of Republican State Leadership Committee. Project Redmap ensures state govts have a Republican advantage for 10 years and she was nothing but cordial to his genius in doing this (see link, you will actually like it!).
Rachel speaks truth to power, she is a true voice. She gives credit where it is due and she is incredibly courteous, so if she is "bashing conservatives" perhaps she is just telling the truth.
She actually criticizes liberals too - she never "bashes" anyone
[ In Reply To ..]
She invites conservatives to come on her show all the time, but hardly any of them will. Why? I am sure they are totally afraid that her intellectual arguments will make them look like the greedy fools they are.
That's funny. Olbermann can't even hold a job! - nm

He probably can't keep a job shining shoes either. He is one of the most cynical and hateful individuals I have ever had the displeasure to hear.
That would hold up if she actually gave some facts - instead of her hateful propaganda

No wonder. - Heather Pescadero

The hateful cynicism and downright anger spewing forth simultaneous with the wild hand motions (for empty emphasis) wear on one after a spell. Other than that, she's utterly boring with nothing of substance to report except for the typical nasty leftwing rhetoric repeated from the daily talking points. Nothing original there. Not ever a smile either. In fact, MSNBC's sole purpose seems to be to attack Fox and we all know how well that is working for them. LOL
It must be hard living in the shadows. - NPC

MSNBC and the liberals in general are always trying to play catch up. It must be difficult trying to bounce back from all the hateful rhetoric, negativity and scandals that have been at the forefront since 2008.
Someone mentioned above that they wish Olbermann would come back on the air at MSNBC. Sure, have at it. That will be the final nail in NBC's coffin (or maybe Brian Williams already was), but that may be a good thing. Maybe it will wake them up and make them realize they have to produce a truthful news product instead of just regurgitated hate speak.
While we still wait for O'Really? to be fired - for bad "journalism"

waiting . . . waiting . . . waiting . . .
Glad I didn't hold my breath.
Must have missed something. Did they really think - that would happen? LOLOL

Thing I don't like about O'Reilly - anonie
[ In Reply To ..]
I just wish he would let someone finish a sentence before he gives his opinion or interrupts them. I am sick of that. I am not fond of him. I watch only certain of the Fox people. I don't like little lady on the morning show. Have tuned them out of late. I don't like fluff all the time. I want news.

The only reason I can tolerate Rachel longer than Bill is because she's often funnier, when Bill comes across as so angry, but they're both pretty intense.
In fact, they're also both pretty arrogant and intolerant - Rachel just hides it better with humor.
I DO find myself agreeing with Rachel more often, and not because she's funny, but because Bill has a way of telling you what you should think, whereas, Rachel shows you clips and then leads you to water, letting you decide what to drink.
Only problem with that is, what she's using to lead you to that conclusion with - are those clips in full context?
So in that way, they're both alike in this way too - they sometimes jump to conclusions/make sweeping generalizations based on very little information/take things out of context.
Rachel will apologize and set the record straight - if she is wrong

Has O'Really? every admitted an error? He has made tons, some most certainly intentionally.
Yes, recently he did and I can't remember what it was. - It's true. Look it up.

But nobody does apology like Jon Stewart :) - Independent
[ In Reply To ..]
The only person I've ever seen in the media to ever give a sincere apology even Fox News praised was Jon Stewart.
Now THIS is how you give an apology for mistakes :)
https://youtu.be/Z3Zprx7this
I saw Rachel give one once to Rush Limbaugh, but then she went on to belabor her original point instead of just moving on.
I've never seen Bill O'Reilly give an apology he wasn't admittedly forced to do by his producers.
However, after reading the comment below to you, I went looking as they recommended. Apparently he apologized to regarding the false statements that Republicans were not invited to MLK Anniversary events?
However, I can't find the actual clip - some publications say he blames nobody but himself, others still say it was forced apology.
If anyone has that clip, or any clips of Rachel or Bill apologizing like grown ups, feel free to share:)

Rachel MaddowMar 22, 2011For those of you who watched Rachel Maddow last night when she was slamming the Repbulican governors about their budget cuts, she mentioned the governor of Michigan wanted to "raise taxes on seniors" or something like that. Maddow, Olbermann Invited To White House Chat With ObamaOct 22, 2009By Chris Ariens on Oct 21, 2009 12:58 PM
Here's a curious turn in the White House vs. Fox News fight.
On Monday, MSNBC's Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow were among several people who attended an off-the-record briefing with Pres. Obama at the White House. Sources tell us other attendees at the two-and-a-half hour chat included Eugene Robinson of the Washington Post, Maureen Dowd of the New York Times, Gwen Ifill of PBS and Gloria Borger of CNN. Perhaps not surprisingly, no one fr ...
