Goodbye gas bag.

Posted: Dec 3, 2011

Scores of lying women and media monsters.  It's all their fault.  Pure as the driven snow, he forges on to meet his destiny at the dawn of  new day, tireless in is efforts to do the will of the People and ever defiant in his mission to rise above those forces of evil who were the harbingers of his downfall.

Translation: The democat's self-declared "worst nightmare" cuts his losses, limps off into the night with his tail between his legs, trying to figure out how to salvage his reputation, restore his family's honor, develop a new book selling strategy, unload the follow me bus and craft a post apocalyptic career plan.

It's been fun, Herm.  We wish you well and hope your legacy will somehow transcend its current trajectory toward a "Herman who?" footnote in the 2012 primary election section of Wiki 2030.

Whatever happened to personal responsibility? - His womanizing ways did him in.

Was it anti-Semitism that fueled the TP/GOP and the media's relentless hounding before Antohony Weiner resigned? Or course not. Too bad he didn't have the option to "suspend" his representation so he could continue to get paid. Cain is destined to become just another book-selling bus-touring talking head on Fox who cons PAC donations out of his faithful following. It's not even an original idea, more like a copycat con.

First it was a lying woman, then it was a couple of lying women, next it was an anonymous smear campaign, then the media, the Perry camp, half-a-dozen lying women, back again to the media. Still it is everything under the sun BUT the gigantic ego whose exaggerated sense of self importance led him to believe he could sail right through a presidential campaign and still escape exposure of his closet skeletons. THAT is what hurt his family, straight up.

Ah Herman, we knew you well... - The Analog Kid

I use to love his stock answer to any accusations-he would place blame on some unnamed person or group, and then say "that's just speculation, I have no facts about that". I will miss him on the news, what a twit he was.

Just because I am nosy, I wonder how much money he really gave to the woman he had the "friendship" with the last 13 years. She gave an interview, and it was never established if she had a job or any other source of income except Spermin' Herman (thanks, Conan). Neither party will discuss the amounts given, imagine that.

not to mention his ongoing influence in the realtime political landscape. It's all about deeds and actions. Herm's stuck in philander, clown and con man modes, but I'll give him this much. He's a work in progress. I look forward to seeing how the TP/GOP's male Palin counterpart evolves and what future SNL skits make of it all. At the moment, outside the Fox bubble, they appear to be going nowhere fast in terms of any real political career aspirations they may be entertaining.

Cain's initial Plan B challenge will be to transform that slick, slippery and slimey persona into something a bit more palatable and optically in line with the GOP professed family values platform. He could start by losing that 70s-reminiscent pimp hat he and his body guards often sport while out on the campaign trail. He just looks much more credible when wearing the perennial shiney yellow tie, muddy brown suit and geeky wire rims. He's fortunate to have his stand-by-her-man helper by his side and behind the scenes who can guide his first stumbling baby steps into that arena and make a few major strategy decisions for him along the way until he finds more solid footing. While he's at it, he might oughtta consider taking a few remedial world geography and international poli-sci refresher courses. Just sayin'.

Clinton was a far better president than Obama - I realize that's not saying much ;) I think people look back on his presidency well because the economy was so good, not so much because he was a great president. I'm not looking forward to 2012 - it's gonna be an ugly year.

[ In Reply To ..]
the discredited 1999 claims Juanita Broaddrick made after explicitly testifying under oath in 1997 that no such incident occurred, then changed her story in a paid interview with Dateline. As I recall, her corroborators were not terribly credible either...two women who had an ax to grind with Clinton because he commuted the sentence of their dad's murderer and Broaddrick's lover at the time (with whom she was cheating on her husband), in whom she allegedly confided the incident. Funny thing is that she never told her own husband about it and curiously enough, she attended a fundraiser for Clinton just 3 weeks after she says it happened. Call me crazy, but if I had just been raped by some guy running for governor, the last place you would find me is supporting him at a fundraising event. Those accusations, along with Kathleen Willey's (who gave false informtion to the FBI that conflicted with her other sworn testimony) were never considered to be credible enough to even be presented to the court, especially since Broaddrick never filed a report or pressed any charges against him.

BTW, Clinton was not "stripped" of his law license. He agreed to a 5-year suspension of his Arkansas license and a fine as part of a voluntarily settlement. Though he is now elegible for reinstatement, evidently he is not that interested in practicing law, since he never did apply for it and also resigned from the SC bar. Since that time he has received honorary law degrees from at least 10 universities.

Your parting shot about signing GOP bills to "save his a$$" is just downright silly. Teflon Bill didn't need saving. He, unlike Cain, was obviously able to overcome these "scandals" quite handily all by himself. He managed to get re-elected in 1996 by an 8.5% margin over Dole and a 40.8% margin over independent spoiler candidate Ross Perot, meaning that two challengers combined could not bring him down. He got 70% of the electoral college votes. Throughout it all Clinton kept high approval ratings, the highest ones seen directly after the impeachment. It was 66% when he left office.

All in all, he seems pretty content with his global initiatives foundation focusing on AIDS, public health, mitigating ethnic conflict, alleviating poverty, disaster relief fundraising, charity work, public speaking, democratic party involvement and diplomatic missions. Aside from the honorary law degrees, he has had schools named after him, been depicted in honorary statues, received various forms of global recognition, the Medal for Distinguished Public Service, was Time's Man of the Year, made Gallup's list of the 18 most widely admired people in the 20th century, received a Grammy...well, you get the drift. The suggestion that Cain could in any way ever achieve such acclaim is laughable.

I stand by my OP. Whether or not Hermie ever transcends his current fall from grace remains to be seen, but one thing is certain. He will never attain the standing BC has earned. That just must irk the living daylights out of his detractors, and probably is the reason you cannot refrain from shouting out all these hollow, bitter protests. Clinton is still relevant, despite all the concerted efforts over the years to drag him through the mud. Cain, not so much. His relevance is so shakey it may not even survive until the end of the year. Sad, but oh so true.

"what the meaning of is is". Forgot about that, huh? Oh I'm sorry, didn't forget, just purposely ignoring it. After all he's a democrat, so it's okay.

Everything you wrote can be applied to yours truly Billy. A lying woman (Lewinski). A couple of lying woman (Flowers, Jones). Anonymous smear campaign (republican party). The media (Fox). Half a dozen lying women (Wiley, Brodderick, Gracen, Perdue, Browning, etc), oh yes, and back to Fox again, along with Kenneth Star. Gigantic ego? whoa boy.... Don't think anyone has topped his ego (Mr. "I want more credit" - well gooooolly gee (can hear Gomer Pyle now). I remember listening to Rabin's wife interviewed one time and she said when she met BC his ego was so huge it reminded her of that song "I'm too sexy" (I'm too sexy for my shirt, I'm so sexy it hurts). Everything else you said describes BC and a lot of other people in politics in both parties.
Old news, hon, and already addressed in recent - previous post....

and it remains to be seen if Herman will emerge unscathed and with the kind of global recognition, admiration and respect Clinton commands. Don't. Hold. Your. Breath. With the attention span of a gnat, the American public has a tendency to focus on the more fresh, salcious, and sensational scandals. in the moment. After all, short-term memories notwithstanding and, by all accounts, Newt's indiscretions (at least the ones we know about so far) seem to be all but forgiven by his party (or are they just ignoring it?), despite the fact that the GOP would like to elevate his 2nd (or was it 3rd?) mistress to First Lady status, all the while preaching family values and personal responsibility, and staking exclusive ownership of superior work ethics (which evidently include peddling political influence, amassing easy-come-easy-go personal wealth with cumulative exorbitant speaking fees, tax dodging and perjurious responses in the ensuing investigation),blah, blah, blah...
Not old news, hon - see message
[ In Reply To ..]
Comparing the same exact thing with someone else is not old news. Plenty of people make references to Bush and nobody comes back and says "old news hon". Facts are facts. If you're going to start in on someone because of their womanizing you better be able to take the heat. You cannot get after someone for having woman, but give your guy a free pass because he happens to be a democrat. Doesn't work that way.

Oh yes, what I wrote was not covered in previous posts. I read those previous posts. They did not write what I did. Mine was a separate post.

Nobody has personal responsibility anymore! - Zville MT

[ In Reply To ..]
You do have to admit, though, that in Weiner's case, there was proof, so it is a little different. However, he spent several weeks denying the pictures were his and blamed some unknown hacker.

Look around and I think you'll see that this country is sadly lacking in personal responsibility - that will be our downfall.
Cain's hush money and gag orders keeps evidence - from seeing the light of day
[ In Reply To ..]
but personally, I find Ginger White's interview thousands of times more credible than any of the scores of shifting spins Cain tried to put out there in his own defense. During the Weiner scandal, I think it became pretty apparent that when men in positions of political power regardless of party affiliation, tend to lie like dogs before coming forward with the truth. At least Weiner DID eventually come forward with an admission and is now seeking treatment for his sexting addiction. Cain has not had the intestinal fortitude to own up to anything other than staunch denials and blame shifting.

[ In Reply To ..]
Whenever I think someone has dropped to a new low, it always amazes me people can go even lower. Gas bag? That's totally disgusting. Did you call Clinton a gas bag? No, most likely not.

The thing is, if you're talking about the women in his life, take a look at most of the politicians no matter what side they are on. Or if you are talking about people not taking responsibility for their mistakes, well your also talking about Clinton, along with just about everyone else in politics. Clinton, Obama, Pelosi, etc, nope, nothing is ever their fault, always someone elses fault.

There were a lot of things about Cain that didn't set quite right. But these so called "anonymous" women who just so happened to crawl out of their holes what? about 20 years later to now speak after all these years. Sorry, bad fish can be smelled for many miles.

I'm glad Cain is out of the race. Hope Blahman follows right behind him. We need presidential material. I am sad that there is not another black man running on the republican ticket, because, now the democrats have the upper hand to play the race card when other issues don't work. It's sad but true.

The truly unfortunate thing is I don't have a lot of confidence in anyone in the republican party and the one who is most likely to win I don't trust as far as I could throw him. It's also unfortunate that there is no one in the democrat party who would be a good leader also.

But calling someone a "gas bag"? I find remarks like that truly low life and uncalled for. These people are human beings after all.

I don't think it was disgusting. - Pub

That first woman I did not believe. Something about her plus the fact Allred was standing beside her, I just didn't believe her. But, where there is smoke there is usually fire. It really doesn't matter how many years have passed. Did you believe the 13 year affair? If he was just friends, why didn't he tell his wife? Giving her money? If he was my husband, I'd kick his a$$. He needed to go. Every time he opened his mouth, another lie was coming out. If he had owned up to it first time out, it would've probably gone away.

I wonder if JFK could have been elected in 2012 with all his womanizing ways. Probably not.

There are no secrets anymore. Anybody wanting to be in the public eye needs to realize that.

It WAS disgusting. The hateful left always shows - their true colors eventually...every time.nm

[ In Reply To ..]
And there is NOTHING to love about it. I have never seen so much hypocrisy and a good example is trashing Cain for the women he was with and excusing Billy, with some lame excuse that it's old news, so hey don't bring up the wrong doings of a democrat cos we'll always say its old news (when its not). In all honesty, both sides play the victim roll, but pointing out that the side you hate plays it is what is truly wrong. Until people can admit there is wrong in their own party then nothing will ever get solved. Just attack attack attack. And why? because someone didn't vote for the guy you (not you personally, you in general) voted for.

I am sick sick sick of it.
I'm not a democrat - BillyGoatGruff
[ In Reply To ..]
First of all, I'm not a Democrat, and if you want to find me, when you get to the light at Obama Boulevard, make a hard left and go down the road a few miles. I'm not playing the he did this... OH, but HE did THAT... game. I'm talking about the conservative knee-jerk reaction to play the victim when things aren't going their way (all while screaming about personal responsibility), demonstrating they have been properly trained by Fox News, Limbaugh, Coulter, and the like to ensure ratings and/or sales of the next awful book they're hocking. It's a marketing strategy to make 'em think that way. Cain's demise came solely at the hands (or in this case groping tentacles) of Herman Cain. It's not our fault that, while touting Christian family values as justification for homophobia and Islamophobia (for example), Herman couldn't use his Christian family values to stop himself from pawing at women under the guise of helping their careers or cheating on his wife. If any conservative fell for his political-donation-sponsored book tour disguised as a presidential campaign, they are victims of their own gullibility... not some liberal conspiracy or liberal hypocrisy... no matter what the right-wing propaganda machine tells you (BLAME YOURSELF!). Personally, I would have loved to see Cain nominated. Unfortunately, for most liberals right now, the best thing for 2012 is to see that a Pub does not become elected, and a Cain nomination would have guaranteed that. It's disappointing.

Anyhow, it seems to me that conservatives actually enjoy the training they've received and like playing the victim. Have you heard that THE MUPPETS are now pushing the LIBERAL AGENDA??? Better get on that.

I think you're living in some kind of weird parallel - universe! nm
