Going Rogue v Going Rogue

Posted: Oct 23, 2009

How many are going to buy the wrong book?

A collection of essays about former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, titled Going Rouge, will be released the same day as Palin's own much-awaited book, Going Rogue.

The essays, collected by The Nation senior editors Richard Kim and Betsy Reed and written by Max Blumenthal, Katha Pollitt, Matt Taibbi and several others, will examine "the nightmarish prospect of her continuing to dominate the nation's political scene."

And yes, the book is available for pre-order.

How would you feel if I wrote a book about you, having never met you, and just made it up as I went along?

I don't pick political fights. I also would have no business writing/publishing a book about you, since I don't know you. Think about it. Would you want me to do that to you?

The more attention they bring to it, the more books she will sell.... - watcher

You would think they would have learned that by now. The more they attack her, the more she stays in the news. You would think they would have learned THAT by now. All that will do is play to the people who already hate her and make others curious and want to read her book...after all, if they hate her so much, she must be doing SOMETHING right, right??

Oh well. Let them attack on. Doesn't hurt anyone but them.

I have never been able to figure that out - just me

I have never understood where the absolute hatred for her comes from. What has she done personally to the Palin-haters that they are so intent on trashing her. She has done nothing to them. What joy do they get out of it. If she had done something (like some of the politicians) I could see it, but she has done nothing to deserve what is being thrown at her. I heard someone interviewed and they said this latest hate book about her is a lawsuit in pending. You would think if nothing else she could sue for using her image on it without her permission.

I don't know. I just don't get it. People are their happiest when they are trashing others and making others miserable. All I say is I don't think these haters have a soul.
It's not all hate - NJ

A lot of it is scoffing at a money-hungry quitter who believes man and dinosaurs walked the earth at the same time. Not hate ^^

NJ
LOL - you just proved my point - just me

"money-hungry quitter who believes man and dinosaurs walked the earlth at the same time" Your statement just proved what I wrote.

First, she's not money hungry. She's trying to make a living just like Obama did writing his books (or having someone write them for him). Like Hillary, Bill, and all the other politicians that have a story to tell.

Second, She's not a quitter even though that's what you've been told. She had her reasons for leaving the office early. That's not called quitting, it's called doing what you feel is best. Democrats did it and it was fine. Whatever her reasons were that's her business. But Gov. Palin is the last person who is a quitter.

Third, so what if she said that about dinasaurs and man. Who gives a rat's pitooty. Only the haters do. The rest of us have moved on. We don't hang on every single mistake some says...the haters do though.

Not hate? Maybe you should re-read your post.
Nah, no energy wasted on hate - NJ

Perhaps you hate everyone with whom you disagree. The rest of us don't always have that kind of extreme emotion.

It's telling that you think disagreement means hate.

Meanwhile, back on planet earth...she did quit her elected position to pursue the money trail, unlike the dems you cite who managed to fulfill their obligations. Her ignorance about dinosaurs is the least of her faux pas. But I think you may worship her as so many have accused the left of doing to Obama. *shrug* If it floats your boat, have at her.

Many many lefties would dearly love to see her run in 2012 or any other time. Make sure to write her and encourage her to do so!

NJ
Nice try...NOT....LOL - thanks for the laugh - just me

Conservatives and independents do not hate people who disagree with us. That's what makes this country great. But the liberals (most liberals I mean) cannot deal with people who have a different opinion than they do and they go on the attack (hence the Palin-haters). You say you don't have that kind of extreme emotion, however, your post stated otherwise.

If you read my post (which by your post here it sounds like you didn't), there was no extreme emotion in my post. The extreme emotion comes from your post with name calling. That is what hate is. Calling people names without knowing anything about the situation, and making things up to supposedly support your viewpoint, yet what you said is outright not true.

Yes, here on planet earth where the rest of us are, we have listened to her speeches telling us why she left her position early. It was not to pursue a money trail. If so, then you need to include Obama in that trail too as he quit his job early, and wrote a book. But if you would stop worshipping him for awhile you might just be able to understand that....naaa...on second thought I doubt you will.

I for one am thankful she is not in the white house, but I certainly don't wish her ill as most Palin-haters do. Wasting time writing a book filled with hate about her and posting here on this board calling her names and accusing her of falsehoods. Such a waste of time and energy.

Perhaps if people would stop attacking her for no good reason they might find a little enjoyment in their lives.

I hope she doesn't run in 2012. First, I think she's smart enough to realize that people nearly wanted to crucify her during the election (again why I have not figured out), but I think she is smart enough not to put her family though that again. The only people who want to see her run again in 2012 is the ones who want to have the fun of ripping her apart again. The conservatives and independents just wish her well, and I hope she has some part of politics. She is very well liked in her home state and she is a very smart and strong woman. I guess that it why everyone is afraid of her.

So, once again you write of falsehoods and accuse the other side of what you are doing. Here in the real world we don't focus on her and vilfy her. That's why we can think with clear minds.

and I am not trying to attack.

What NJ, I believe, was *trying* to say to you is this: Why would you assume that people who are critical of Palin, even sharply critical, actually *hate* HER?

Some of her positions are deplorable and her conduct often makes one go 'ugh' - but hate?

I don't know her, how could I hate her?

Please try harder not to equate people's "disagreement" with Palin's policies, positions, love of limelight and money, etcetera, with hate.

I equate it to jealousy and obsession.... - NCmt

and school girl cattiness. For starters, maybe you should cover the mirrors in your house, that would help a lot.

She is not the governor anymore. Get over it. You just can't stand the fact that she has accomplished a lot and she is not a demhypocrit like you. Grow up. Move on to something else.

If Palin is YOUR role model, well good for you!

In the meantime I am FREE to feel about her anyway I choose.

I've read almost every post NJ has posted on this board, and I've never seen any form of hatred expressed in her posts. If anything, she has a "no skin off my back" attitude and is strong enough to not attack her attackers. I find that a very admirable trait.

I believe you correctly analyzed NJ's opinion on this issue (though I'm certain she would not appoint me as her interpreter - LOL).

Your point, "I don't know her, how could I hate her?", is spot on. I feel the same way. I don't think she would be good for this country, but that hardly means I hate her. Hatred is such a useless emotion and is very disabling when in constant use.
Thanks - 'hate' overused/misapplied - me
[ In Reply To ..]
Yes, I am glad you and Nikki et al are around to balance out my sarcasm, LOL.

People often 'misapply' terms like hate - it's good to remember that none of us can really know what is in *another* person's heart.

Better to ASK what people thing/feel than to project... ;)
Yes hate IS overused - just me
[ In Reply To ..]
Haven't been to the board in awhile and just saw this message.

Hate is overused. Especially when people call others Obama haters. However, during the election I sure didn't see people trying to run Obama's motorcade off the road like they did Gov. Palin's. I didn't seen anyone have an effigy of Obama hanging from a noose like they did Gov. Palin. Anytime someone disagrees with a policy that Obama's administration is enforcing they are called Obama-haters.

Sure don't like it when the shoe is on the other foot do ya. The fact is there are Palin-haters. No trying to say that you only "diagree" with her is far from the truth.

LOOK harder - me

I watched every single new clip on TV.

I never saw his motorcade being rushed. I never saw his effigy hanging from a rope.

How bout a link. Prove me wrong and I'll say I was wrong.

You watched every single one, huh?

I remember Obama being hung in effigy by some racist looney here in Ohio. You can google it if you like. Googling it will bring up lots of links to different stories of Obama hung in effigy, including this in Oregon and this one in Ohio.

First of all NO one could have seen "all the clips" on TV - on all channels all over the nation since inauguration day - or during the campagins.

Secondly, TV is just one form of broadcast and one form of media.

Thirdly, who cares? If you check your history you will find that politicians have been ridiculed and parodied and insulted ever since there was any type of written communication - it goes with the territory - and it's a waste of time whining about which side is "meaner".

My point in this thread was only to say that calling people 'haters' (simply because they have a different opinion or a strong opinion) is way overused/misapplied - regardless of which side is doing the labeleling.

Thank you Nikki - I had not seen that.

No matter whose effigy is being hung it is wrong. I just wish someone like the gentleman speaking in this video had also called Gov. Palin to apologize to her.

But hey, it's Sarah Palin after all - it's okay to do things like that to her. I'm sure people would have like it even better if it really had happened to her. Whatever anyone wants to think - the hatred for her is out of control.

FACT CHECK: Palin's Book Goes Rogue On Some Facts.Nov 13, 2009
Sarah Palin's new book reprises familiar claims from the 2008 presidential campaign that haven't become any truer over time. Ignoring substantial parts of her record if not the facts, she depicts herself as a frugal traveler on the taxpayer's dime, a reformer without ties to powerful interests and a politician roguishly indifferent to high ambition. Palin goes adrift, at times, on more contemporary issues, too. She criticizes President Barack Obama for pushing through a bailout ...
