[ In Reply To ..]but basically there was some kind of an altercation with a demanding woman passenger who was trying to get some luggage down from the overhead bin before the plane was officially stopped. She went on a tirade and called him a few choice words. He then lost it, grabbed the intercom and told her what he thought of her, grabbed a few beers, opened the emergency door, put down the chute and basically said take this job and shove it!
It will be all over the news tonight. Having a brother and other relatives in the airline industry and knowing the abuse these people take from unruly passengers on a daily basis, I think it\'s funny that someone finally stood up and said I\'m not gonna take this abuse any longer! Good for him. It cost him his job and possibly some fines/jail time, but he definitely proved a point.
I feel like doing that every day with this job! - just me

The passenger that drove him to it was probably a - real piece of work. Although - sm
[ In Reply To ..]he had to know he was going to be facing some sort of "criminal" charges, I still like his modus operandi on the Final Exit: 1) Tell the offending passenger what he can do to himself; 2) Grab a couple of beers; 3) deploy the emergency chute and slide off into the sunset. Dramatic to the max.
Wouldn't you like to quit your current MT job in an equally flashy manner? I know I sure would.

Maybe all airlines should rethink serving alcohol to passengers on board aircraft. I'll bet it was a major contributing factor in this case, as it all too often is.
I think the quitting steward's exit was the BEST. Too bad he's the one getting in trouble, and not the passenger, or Jet Blue.
