That's old news. When O care was first announced, it was discovered that it wasn't "so affordable after all."
That's not what the article is about - anon2

a political argument here.
Why? This isn't about politics, it's about insurance - confused

The article has *nothing* to do with politics - it's about INSURANCE.
It's both, actually. - anon

I think it should stay here, though, because then maybe we can have a civil conversation about it. With the moderator gone off the politics board, you'll probably get eaten alive if you post this over there.
There is a new - moderator on the politics

board, and from her introduction post, she sounds a bit tougher than the past ones. Her 3-strike rule is going to be interesting to play out. If future postings are as horrible as the past postings, pretty soon there will not be anybody left on the politics board at all. (YAY!) and maybe they will dispose of it. It is just a horrible sand box to play in. I, for one, intend to stay as far away from there as I can. It's a very negative place and it permeates your whole soul, constantly. I do not need it! I wish good luck to the new moderator.
I agree, lots of cyberbullying, called a troll if - you disagree with them. sm

I wish the new moderate good luck. I never could engage in a discussion because all my links were made fun of.

How or why people would pass legislation they hadn't even read! It's like someone giving you a spoonful of castor oil when they've never even tasted it and saying "here, try it, it's great!"

I suppose a lot of people thought Obamacare was going to be free, and when they realize is isn't they will go on Medicaid.

My brother just got a cancellation notice from his insurance company just like the article states - and when he went to sign up with a new plan his premium went up 539%. His bill used to be $212 a month, now it's over $1300 for the same exact coverage.
This is the future of our healthcare. Only the rich will be able to afford to be healthy.

they will eventually be put out of business, then of course we will have single payer which is the objective.
Thanks for that tip! - Because I was really going to buy insurance stock
[ In Reply To ..]
Not. Really? People in our job can afford to buy stock? I find that hard to believe.
Ever think the insurance companies deserve this with their willful misrepresentation and scare tactics? Health insurance has made HUGE profits thanks to years of deregulation and it is on our backs.
Most affordable policies now are junk insurance - Has your brother checked the exchanges?
[ In Reply To ..]
I would maintain that the present of our healthcare is that only the rich can afford to be healthy. People with gold plated policies provided by their employers are the only ones who don't get ripped off, which is ironic because they COULD afford the huge deductibles and OOP costs, yet they don't pay them, us poors do.
I cannot believe how many people are buying into this blatant attempt by the insurance industry to scare people, even though they are actually profiting hugely from the ACA.
Have you never seen an insurance plan from an MTSO? This is classic junk insurance. You pay somewhat lower premiums, they basically make you apply everything to the big deductible (incentive NOT to go to the doctor at all) and are allowed to pull charges out of their hats when you do finally need care. Honestly, have you ever gone to the hospital and see what happens?
Please, the regulations imposed by the ACA are GOOD for poor and middle class people. They put limits on out of pocket costs, make sure you can't get scammed.
If your brother gets himself a navigator and finds out what he is entitled to under the exchanges he may be entitled to a subsidy and I guarantee the coverage will be better.
Please do your own research - the MSM have dropped the ball on this completely - and understand that a junk insurance policy is worth nothing in reality, you would find this if you had to claim. Greta Van Susteren herself helped a bewildered and angry lady understand this.
you're implying that includes ALL people's - Hiya007

insurance, which is misleading. Anyone who has insurance through their employer is not affected. It's people who have purchased insurance on their own, "individual," and that is a small percentage. The reason they are being dropped is because their present insurance does not meet the requirements of ACA, like prescription drug coverage, some women don't get to pay more for insurance, free preventative care, etc, etc, even if it's cheaper. The issue is that he said no one would take your insurance away. That's not the case with this set of consumers; however, these people can purchase insurance through the exchanges with all the bells and whistles and might end up paying more if they don't qualify for subsidies but most do. That's the deal in case anyone is interested in FACTS!
In the future, if it's not a "qualified heath plan" - MT2
[ In Reply To ..]
and they fall between the cracks, insurers will have to stop offering the plans anymore because it's not a "qualified health plan."
That's how your plan gets thrown out and that's how you lose your grandfathered status.

The Bad News On JobsMay 17, 2011Don't let the biggest monthly jobs gain in five years fool you. Dark clouds on the horizon are getting harder to ignore.
Economists at Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley have certainly noticed.
