Spring and all the critters it wakes up

Posted: Mar 17, 2010

Last night while watching TV my mother hollered out from the family room about a noise in the back bathroom  She and my husband went to check it out and a 4.5 foot black snake was going into the toilet, I suppose for a drink.  It somehow knocked the lid down on itself and that is what we heard.  Hubby put pressure on lid to keep snake pinned down and I want to garage for something to hook it with.  He finally got it outside (no easy feat) and it met its demise.  (I know they are supposedly harmless, but we almost had a couple of heart attacks from this one.)   Ahh,  country living at it's best.

How did it meet its demise? - SM

If your husband was able to remove it from the house and take it outside, why wasn't it just let go? It apparently wasn't causing any harm other than scaring you.

I know blacksnakes are harmless, but heart failure and soiled underwear are enough reasons for us. Beheading was the only appropriate punishment in our eyes.

My mother, who is in her 80's, barely slept any last night after that. She kept thinking there were more and they were going to climb into her bed to share the warmth from the heated mattress pad she sleeps on.

Disgusting things! - Worst fear ever

Time For A Corporate SpringMay 26, 2012
A common complaint in today’s world is one of disconnection. Our industrialized world has resulted in less contact with community — we don’t know our neighbors or who grows our food. In the same way that we’ve lost touch with a deeper sense of belonging and place, many of us have become disconnected from the soul of our work. The corporation-worker structure today is a master-servant relationship. We’re slaves to the company, working longer hours for less wage ...

Spring Forward. Don't Forget To Set Your ClocksMar 08, 2014
So you will lose one hour of sleep unless you go to bed an hour early. I almost forgot, until I read a post on the Nuance board. Starting this thread will help me remember. I was once an hour late to work because of this and can't tell you how many times I've woke up confused about the time. So if you're anything like me, maybe this thread will save someone from being late to work or church tomorrow. ...
