Oprah

I will miss her daytime show.   I am already a fan of some of the shows on OWN.   If every person applied her values to their lives (especially some of the people in government) this would be a better world.

Same here, will miss Oprah - Alice

I just watched her final show. As always, it was inspiring. She talked about callings. One thing that she said was that our callings in life do not have to be fulfilled through, or part of, our daily job, but it is wonderful if they are. As I sat there watching her, it occurred to me that it is okay if my job is not my true calling in life, but my job MUST enable me to fulfill my calling, not disable me. When my job prevents me from fulfilling my true calling in life, by creating great fatigue, surrounding me with negativity or preventing me from basic economic survival, it is not fulfilling its purpose and is preventing me from fulfilling my true calling, which means it is time for a change.

Very well said, and I agree with you totally! - nm

My mom watched her show religiously. Because of the guests (so called experts) on her show my mom developed anxiety and panic attacks. She became depressed and every week called me to tell me she changed her will and would read it to me (I don't live close by). When I asked what was up and why she felt she needed to do this (was always very supporting and listened to her closely), she said.... Oprah had a guest on and this psychiatrist said this or that. Once the guest said that if you have these certain feelings it meant that you wouldn't be living very much longer and that you've done something bad that God is mad at you for. Can't tell you who or what was said, as I'm just going by what my mom said. What her show did to my mom was made her feel depressed and guilty that my baby sister died of meningitis and that it was my mom's fault, because that's what the "expert" on Oprah's show said. When I'd go back to visit I'd sit and watch Oprah with her. Her show was just a bunch of hooey. She was racing through the guests so fast she never spent time with one of them to ask questions and stuff. Just, okay first guest done, hurry up second guest on, okay second guest done, hurry up.... She never seemed sincere. Everything was always a gimmick with her. She's way too impressed with herself. Yes I know she has a very successful show and lots of people like her, but there is no humility with her. Then I see film clips of her on The Soup, and yes I know it's a funny show, but he shows films of her and she's saying these really bizzare things like Oprah's favorite thing is this or that. Guess that's a weekly part of her show is to let the whole country know what her favorite thing is. She is so full of herself.

Well I love her acting and I wish she would make more movies. Just sick of the whole Oprah mania, especially when you hear her and she sounds like a complete idiot and part of the self-absorbed Hollywierd crowd. Wish her well in whatever she does.

From a stewardess friend of mine, she is the most rude customer ever! It's all an act. She is actually just another rich a'hole.

I agree with you.... - Mary

Oprah has never been my bag. She always expected everyone to agree with her philosophy or ideals...simply because she was the "goddess of daytime tv." And many times, she was way off base. She lived in a fantasy world with all her money and seemed more of a phoney to me. She did help a lot of people but seemed to boast about that fact which just made her look arrogant and egotistical. I wish her well with whatever she chooses to do in life but I won't be shedding any tears over the end of her show. I never watched it anyway. Us poor folks have to work for a living.

I watched her a bit when I was a teenager but since I was old enough to form my own opinions about the world, realized mine were different than hers and didn't like all of her showboating. JMHO....

For those of us old enough to remember her in the 80s, her first shows were sleazy, along the lines of Ricki Lake, Sally Jesse Raphael. Amazing how she has somehow morphed into this ''guru''. An interesting book by Kitty Kelly, just called ''Oprah'' with accounts by her aunt and other family members that she is not at all what she seems. Rude and narcissistic but brilliant at self-promotion.
