Maybe I'll start a blog

Posted: Dec 6, 2013

I'm thinking of starting a blog to chronicle my descent into homelessness and madness or my miraculous recovery from this poverty-stricken existence that I've been living for the past seven years an MT.  I'm really not sure which way it will turn out, but I truly enjoy typing and writing when I have control over what words show up on the screen without any kind of QA involved in the process.  Would anyone read my blog?

i would - nm

Oops. I failed to re-read before submitting. That first sentence should end with "as an MT." I can't remember what the QA deduction is for leaving out a word.

LOL! Who cares about spelling in blogs? Will - you call your blog ....

Honestly I do not read blogs that are depressing talking about what a rough life someone had. For me its too depressing. It's like my MIL. She keeps telling everyone she's going to write a story about all her troubles, how everything was done to her, what a horrible husband her ex was, how she had it so rough and is the victim in every circumstance. Honestly if it's too depression I won't read it.

If however you post your experience and offer solutions to others going through the same thing I would read it. But if all it's going to be is a victim mode blog I won't.

Or, you could ... - sm

Or, you could spend that time applying for a better job, then studying for a still better job.

I wouldn't read it, - because...

I have lived it myself, and honestly there is nothing interesting or amusing about it. I feel about 99.9% of blogs people write for their own enjoyment/therapy. Not long ago here on the Stars there were a few folks who wrote very funny posts (remember MModal Livestock?), but they seemed to have all vanished.

Exactly - blogs are just virtual vanity press - Ayn

I wouldn't read it simply because I don't read blogs of any kind. I have absolutely no interest in them no matter what the subject.

Some people spend their days doing nothing but reading other people's blogs and writing their own, though, so to each their own.
She probably wouldn't want either of you to - read it, either. Talk about vanity.

The funny ones mostly disappeared because - they got banned. Uncensored blog would be good!

I would read it only if you could catalog your competencies and start exploring your opportunities.

Immediately after I got laid off I considered these: phlebotomy, medical coding, pharmacy tech, radiology tech, court reporting. I looked into ROP (local training) and what continuing ed was offered at the comm. college. I got into phlebotomy and pharm. Phleb was a disaster. It was sponsored by Boston Reed College, and I wasted $3K. I hated the class -- and I never "hate" classes, but I felt completely trapped. I was competent but could not pass the clinical. I often could not hear the instructor (she mumbled) and the clinical sessions were a free for all. All the cliques got into action and used up each other's arms. After this disaster, I found there was a local phleb school that would do the same program for $2K. I'm still plugging along at the pharm and plan to take the licensing test in 2014.

Medical coding and court reporting sound like they are ripe for Indian tech takeovers. I was told that captioning is lucrative, but still requires lots of time to learn the machine.

Here, the rad tech programs have a 3-year wait. Loma Linda offers a program for $40,000, but I don't want that debt. Ultrasound is also a possibility.

There is life after transcription.

My Blog!Mar 01, 2012
I am a fellow MT, and have recently started a blog that is used to encourage others and implement the Word of God into our daily lives.  I would love for each one of you to stop by and maybe leave a comment that could be of encouragement to others.  I think there are so many going through hardships and need a place to go for uplifting, and this is what I am trying to do here on my blog.  So, please stop by.  Would love to have you!  God bless you! http://annieaviles.blo ...

It's been posted once before, so hopefully I'm not overreaching my bounds by doing it again so that any of Fanatical Hypocrite's fans who may have missed it can make their way there.  There are actual posts up now, so I think it's worth mentioning again. And comments are enabled too.   ...

Alleged Dylann Roof Blog Reveals CCC's Influence, Donations To Ted Cruz, Rand Paul AndJun 22, 2015
Like the victims' families, many of us were crying "why" when this first happened.  We now know more about his motivaton for the crime.  If the blog currently being investigated is authentic, Dylann Roof claims he was heavily racially AND politically influenced by Earl Holt (president of the CCC) and the Council of Conservative Citizens website (self-removed since this story broke). The alleged "Roof manifesto" is very specific about his hatred for blacks, hispanics AND Jews (did ...

Great Start To The DayApr 17, 2012
So, I run into this guy this morning who I haven't seen in about nine years. We're talking and then he says - You're bigger than the last time I saw you. Then, he goes on to say - You know how when people get older, they fill out. Okay, so now I'm not only bigger, but old too. That's just great. Just needed to vent. ...

Jeb Is Off To A Dubious Start--maybe He Just Jun 03, 2015
He won't declare and he obviously doesn't think before he speaks. He is going to be in a legal quagmire from the start. The New York Times reported that a growing body of legal critics are eyeing the Jeb Bush camp for their flagrant exploitation of our country’s election laws. The Times observed that “federal law makes anyone who raises or spends $5,000 in an effort to become president a candidate and thus subject to the spending and disclosure restrictions.” But since Jeb ...

The Start Of A Long Road - Jan 28, 2011
My marriage has been rocky for many years, ever since my husband quit work to build his own home-based business six years ago after a car accident.  I had always supported him in his wish to make his own business, it had been his dream for years (we've been married 24 years).  I even agreed to become the breadwinner while his business was getting off the ground, which was possible because I think I have the last well paying MT job in the country.  Anyway, sharing an office fo ...

Head Start Billions Apr 06, 2011
‘Head Start’: The $166 Billion Fed Ed Failure   “Head Start,” the flagship pre-kindergarten program introduced in 1965, has been a $166 billion failure. That’s the upshot of a sophisticated multi-year study just released by the Department of Health and Human Services. An earlier iteration of the study, published in 2005, had found a few modest improvements in the language skills of participating students while they were enrolled in the program. But by t ...
