Favorite movies for 3-year-olds

My grandson is 3 years old and absolutely loves the movie "Cars" and now is hooked on the movie "Robots". I'm looking to get him something else. What are (or were) your kids favorite movies at age 3-4?

I don't like the way my 4 year old grandson is allowed to watch movie after movie. I think it's unhealthy. My brother also allows his daughters (4 and 7) to watch a lot of TV. (Just my opinion...)

My grandson however, does like Cars and Toy Story. When he was a tiny boy I started collecting the Thomas the Train die cast cars and sets for him. Now that he is 4 he is asking for those movies and he loves them.

They are bright and colorful and don't use a baby vocabulary, are narrated by people like Alec Baldwin, George Carlin, Ringo Starr and others (the old ones anyway). Thing about the vocab is that he is asking what words mean now and he uses the words from the movies.

He also watches over and over again Ponyo (a Japanese cartoon so the animation is different than he was used to). That is a very colorful movie, and it has environmental messages. It fascinates him. I believe it is based on the story The Little Mermaid.

Anyway, Thomas and Ponyo are my recommendations for movies for little ones, but if this G-ma had her way she'd take him to play a lot more! (Both my son and DIL work and I know they are tired a lot when they get home. If they lived in town I'd help out for sure, but he's in the military and they live far away. They don't use the TV for a baby sitter, I'm just an old fashioned mom-type, believe in more games and fresh air than TV)...

I too would like to see him outside a bit more but since he also has a newborn sister, he spends quite a bit of time inside at the moment.

He does love Thomas and I never heard of Ponyo. I'll have to check that out.

My kids loved all the old Disney movies at that age -- Bambi, The Fox and the Hound, Robin Hood, Cinderella, Thumbelina, Mary Poppins, Dumbo, etc.

They also loved many others - The Iron Giant, The Brave Little Toaster, Once Upon a Forest, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

All had their favorites and all, like your grandson, would get "stuck" on a movie for awhile and want to watch only that one. Then they would move on to another. I think at that age they like knowing what is going to happen in the show and feeling like they know the characters.

my niece loves Apple Dumpling Gang and Dora the Explorer. I think most of the old Disney movies others have mentioned are good choices, and the Aristocats.

and the Toy Story movies. He has recently become interested in the Incredibles, but he is 4 1/2 and my 2-year-old is not so interested. The older one did not like it at 3. They also love PBS kids, which has a lot of educational shows that you can buy on DVD (Word World is a favorite of for both kids).

I never saw "2016: Obama's America" until today (link below). Someone here on MTStars suggested that we see that first before the newest movie. Now that I've seen it, I'm prepared to see the new one. Is anyone into the Twighlight movies/books. I've been looking on the Internet but I'm confused as to how many series there are and what is the 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc. Have you read the books or seen the movies and which do you prefer. I'm 50 years old, do you think this is something someone my age would enjoy or is it more a teenager thing. I do like True Blood, Interview of a Vampire and movies like that.
