Do you or anyone you know carry? And why?

The only guns we have in the house are DH's hunting rifles. They are disassembled and locked up. No handguns.

I do have a CWL and I carry a 9 mm. For personal reasons. Never had to draw it. Why do I? Because it's my right to.

I have rifles for hunting and target too. I also have compound bows for hunting and target and several handguns of varying calibers.

I grew up with guns, shoot competatively and hunt semi pro, thats why I'm comfortable with guns. I am also very careful, have a big gun safe and locks each and every gun. Ammo is stored in the garage.

My husband does not own a gun, does not shoot.

I don't carry my gun since I moved, but when I lived in that terrible city of Baltimore, you bet I carried it in my pocket. It's a small Italian derringer and fires a 22-long and believe me, if I am ever threatened, I wouldn't be hesitate to shoot.

I don't like guns, never have, but we have plenty of handguns and rifles too. There's nothing faster that will scare anyone from breaking into your house than the sound of racking a shotgun. We have had to do it once, we live way out in the country, and let me tell you, the guy who was hiding around the corner of our house when I came home late one night and tried to break in sure wishes he hadn't. He was a blubbering, crying puddle of mess when he heard hubby rack that gun. He didn't move for 30 minutes until the sheriff got here. We wouldn't hesitate to use our guns anytime we felt threatened.

I live outside of Baltimore, and live alone. You betcha I have guns - an upstairs gun and a downstairs gun. Can't get a carry permit in my county, but that doesn't stop me if I'm going someplace scary. Otherwise I always carry a taser.

Of course, that's after I buy a gun that actually fits me. My boyfriend bought me a .357 two years ago for Christmas... It shoots 38 specials but still, it's a bit big for me. and I'm such a girlie girl that I want something that I handle. Here in NV we can carry a weapon in our vehicle if it is in plain sight, and I have done that. They used to scare me... but I always think of the scenario if I'm in a bank or restaurant and someone comes in to rob the place, but just starts shooting instead... hey, my mind wanders sometimes :)

BF owns rifles and handguns... he gets really into them, and then like the super expensive one just sits in its case, IM like WHAT'S THE POINT! LOL but he's passionate about that stuff like I am shoes so I can't blame him :)

I can't lift or shoot his rifles. Too heavy.

My mom's boyfriend used to take me to the range years ago. At that time, DH was OTR and gone for weeks at a time. Mom's boyfriend made sure I could handle a gun. I shot a lot of handguns from the smallest to the largest but the 45 Magnum was too heavy for me, though. Used to hit the bull's eye a lot. Too bad he didn't give me one. He was a collector.

Anyway, I had to be satisfied taking the targets home and scotchtaping them to the glass on the doors as a warning, along with warning stickers that stated I was armed. Made me feel a little safer, but crime is getting closer to our place and I would feel safer with a hand gun.

I used to have a concealed gun permit in PA as I did a lot of craft shows and carried money and inventory on me, I also had a BF who was a gun dealer so that was my influence there obviously. But I have 2 handguns, a 32 and a 9 mm, and a rifle as well. When I moved out of state I did not apply for a new concealed permit as I no longer do the shows and did not want a loaded gun in my car with my kids. We keep everything locked up and with the ammo in a different location. My husband has a 44 and a several rifles as well. Our kids have no interest in them and we have drilled it into their heads never, never to play with a gun. Everyone here has guns so not a lot of crime or burglary, they'd get shot if they tried if you happened to be home. I do plan to teach them in a few years how to shoot, gun safety, etc. It is a good thing to know if you ever need it.

When we went to buy it because we lived way out of town (still do, just different town and state), the guys in the gun shop were surprised that this gun is what I picked. My husband was moving here and I had to stay in Washington to sell the house, which I did, but that fell through, but that's a different story entirely. I like that my gun has an adjustable buttstock and that way my husband and I can both shoot it comfortably. I hope I never have to use it on a person, though. We just decided that even in the dark, the sound would be unmistakable and maybe cause a person to think twice about being in our house. If they keep on coming, I don't have to be a great shot while panicking to hit someone. No concealed weapons, though. I would like to have a "judge" handgun.
