Canceling an appointment ...

Posted: Aug 9, 2016

I'd set up an appointment with a lawyer re a minor legal matter, but have since heard some negative things about him and want to cancel.

Would appreciate any advice on how to politely cancel the appointment by email.  Just can't think what to write without having to give a definite reason for the cancellation.

;

Simply state that you need to cancel the appt and you are sorry - for any inconvenience. SM

no explanation needed or owed.

its that simple.

if they contact you later to reschedule, tell them not at this time, or tell them it's been taken care of and thank you for following up.

easy.

Thanks! Appreciate your help. - OP

to provide an explanation.

The lawyer has no power over you. You are the client. You get to decide who you engage to handle your business and how you spend your money. You have not engaged his services yet, so you don't owe him an explanation.

This won't be the first time someone has canceled an appointment with this lawyer. He won't see the email anyway; his secretary will deal with it. It is unlikely he will even remember the event by the end of the day.

The Real Reason Insurers Are Canceling PoliciesNov 20, 2013
A few years ago, when talking to the insurance coordinator person at my MTSO, I remember a comment she made about the new (yearly the insurance changed to either a new company or new, worse coverage that cost more) high deductible plan. She said, "It is so employees will be more invested in their care." At that point the high deductible policy was a new choice which luckily was not costing too much less than the other more comprehensive one. Now there would be few who could pay the premiums fo ...

Liberal Fascism. USAA, an insurance, bank and financial services company that caters to active duty military, veterans and their families, is getting slammed by members after announcing on Twitter Wednesday night the company was withdrawing advertising on the Sean Hannity show in response to pressure from liberal activists trying to silence Hannity by cutting off his advertising base. It was not stated by USAA if they advertised on Hannity’s Fox News Channel show or his nationally syndicat ...

APPOINTMENT MONDAY Jan 06, 2012
Monday I go to the hand specialist for de Quervain's tenosynovitis I have had now for two months.   So far all conservative measures have failed.   I had to make the appointment for after January 1, due to a change in insurance for me.   I am dreading the cortisone injection, if he decides to go that way.   I have heard horror stories about wrist injections.    WISH ME LUCK.   I am not proud of being afraid, but I can't h ...

Which is HUGE for me!  I'm one of these people that puts on a happy face and let's no one in on what's really going on in my personal life.  Every time I have made an appointment like this, I end up canceling it.  So we'll see.  After I posted below and got such encouraging responses and I realized that I had my employee assistance program available to me through the hospital I work for which pays for the first five visits or so of counseling or whatever. ...

I Need To Make An Appointment To Get Thyroid CheckedFeb 20, 2013
I already posted this in response to someone else's post.  I don't have insurance, but the dentist at the dental school I went to affirmed I have thyroid nodules (really, I have more than one?)  I'm afraid to get this checked out, I don't have insurance, how am I going to afford Synthroid? It's 49 dollars for the office visit + cost of tests.  What if they want to do a biopsy?  I need tires, blah, blah, blah, dental work, blah, blah, blah....   ...

No Time Out Over Recess Appointment Battle Of NLRB's AuthorityMar 16, 2013
Employers and Acting National Labor Relations Board General Counsel Lafe Solomon continue to spar over the NLRB’s authority in the wake of the D.C. Circuit’s 2013 Noel Canning decision invalidating President Obama’s recess appointments of three NLRB Members. Attacks on the Board’s authority have morphed into an all-out offensive by employers to invalidate hundreds of adverse NLRB decisions and to freeze the Board from deciding current cases.
