and still have to work full time to live BUT having a hard staying under the $15,000-something income cap. Only 18 months to go until I'm 66 with unlimited earning capacity and a small hospital pension from my last in-house gig. Can't wait. I'll be rolling in dough, NOT!

First the statement. As I am really horrible with math, never wanted to take early retirement because of what you just stated, staying under a certain amount. There was one lady on here that did just that, early and wound up not getting money for several months because if early and working, as you know, can only make so much a month. I wanted full retirement and did not want to have a cap on work income. Now, the question. If you take early are you sure it reverts at age 66 to full retirement being as you have already drawn from it? TIA

Yes, they withheld my January and February 2013 SS payment. I am also going to be missing some payments in 2014 as I've already reached the income limit this year, but I'm prepared for it. I HAD TO and chose to take my retirement early and keep working full time or else I wouldn't have been able to make my mortgage payment. Of course I'll revert to full retirement at 66, as that is my regular retirement age. Why would you think not? Other people's retirment age may be different. It depends on when you were born. I have some younger friends whose retirment age is 67, etc.

I do not know where I got that idea but I did. I knew someone here talked about not receiving SS payments because of making too much on their job. If I had taken early I would be in a heck of a lot of trouble because of my lack of keeping up with how much I had made, how much did I get from SS and the like. Do you plan on retirement when you receive full or like me do you plan to continue working? Thanks for the info, did not know.

there is no income cap. My benefit will be essentially the same, but it does go up a little with the COLA (cost of living adjustment) and because I continue to work. I'll continue to work pretty close to full time as I still have to make that mortgage payment.

That was a great time when I could finally say that to.

As for retirement here, I've got another 12+ years to go. Not counting in months anymore cos it seems too far off. This really stinks...all my friends have early retired. Me I'm sole supporter of the family with bills, so just got to keep going and playing the lotto.

I saw my PCP today and he asked why I still had the boot on 3.5 months after I broke my foot.
