Hemorrhoids? - Antonia

Good morning,

I thought this may be a little too personal to post but then I realized, we're all here to help each other so decided to post it.  Did anybody out there ever get an external hemorrhoid?  I've had one for a little over a week now, and it's not shrinking or going away.  It's very uncomfortable.  I'm trying to avoid a doctor's visit to have it looked at.  But I did call the nurse at my GI doctor's office and the doc told the nurse to tell me to do sitz baths (which I've done a few times), Preparation H (which I've been using Rx hydrocortisone cream, so maybe should switch?) and high fiber diet, which that isn't an issue at the moment.  I've Googled and it said it should go away in about a week, but it's been over a week now.  Any help or advice would be appreciated.
