Protein - Stocking up

For protein, there are things such as Spam or canned fish. Buy a side of beef now and freeze it. Buy a smoker and go fishing and smoke some fish. Velveeta has a very long shelf life. For veggies and fruits, you need more than onions and potatoes. Maybe you could plant tomatoes or strawberries. Most strawberry plants don’t bear the first year, so it would be a good idea to start that. I hope food prices never get so high or things are in such short supply that you can’t get out to the grocery store once in a while. In addition to dandelion greens and parsley, pansies are edible and the flowers make pretty garnish for salads. You could do an herb garden. Basil is very easy to grow and is a natural insect repellent.
