One reason I remember that is because I went out of town on a weekend to visit family and couldn’t find an open gas station to fill my tank before I came home and barely made it before I ran out of gas. Where I live, we have really high state gas tax and the price hasn’t been below $3.00 a gallon for as long as I can remember. I notice that the price goes up right before the weekend and during the summer. A lot of people drive bigger SUVs and pickups now. It reminds me of back in the day when the cars were bigger and what were considered “gas guzzlers,” then we had the gas shortage. History is repeating itself.
