If your "sense of humor" depends on whether something is funny, then you don't have a sense of humor.

Having a sense of humor means that you're also able to tell when someone is trying to make a joke. An example of someone trying to make a joke includes things said by a comedian on a well known weekly comedy show.

Taking offense at that makes you just as bad as the pearl-clutching media that claimed Trump was in cahoots with Putin for his email joke. Two sides, one coin.
