remove white authors from their shelves when they didn't. People will spread that on Twitter, Facebook, etc. and the false words will be spread as gospel that NPR told people to remove white books from their shelves.
I also disagreed with what NPR did say but I like to know what NPR actually did say and did.
Not all people read whole articles and use headlines, so the headline, though had quotes about what NPR said, many won't understand that and think NPR said it.
