I'm a landlord and won't rent to smokers - Old Anon. SM

anymore, as cigarette smoke is so damaging to the premises as well as the smoker. I just spent thousands of dollars rehabbing an apartment after a smoker who lived there moved out. She also burned candles that left smoke stains on the ceilings, so I also ask tenants not to burn candles also. That's not something I can really police but smoking is. I also tell tenants not to smoke outside in the yard either because I live in the house too and their cigarette smoke drifts into my apartment. It's all written in their lease, so if they don't comply, it's "see you later." My health and my pocketbook are much happier if they are gone.
