exactly are you defining open borders? Or is this just a term thrown around to try to make liberals look bad? I'm a moderate Dem and a member of a U-U church, and I don't believe we should have open borders (meaning no immigrations laws). If anything, I think immigrations laws, as they exist, need to be enforced more stringently. For instance, we need many, many more immigration judges to hear asylum claims at the border, and we need to treat people more humanely when they do show up at our borders seeking asylum. Those who just try to run across the border or climb a border fence should be sent right back where they came from.
