I made an appointment with a "navigator" - which was through my county

Best thing I ever did - I had worked out a big chart of all the plans on the ACA insurance website and she figured out within a few minutes that we were eligible for a state plan (which I had not found on the website) with low co-pays and no deductible due to our low income for the year (both of us laid off for part of the year).

She proceeded to ask me a few questions, told me I would need some proof of income emailed to her, and voila.

Best thing I ever did. We had to pay $100/month for two but for that I got really great and truly affordable health care for once. Dental too included with that.

Now my husband is employed and his terrible insurance is high deductible, no co-pay, incentivized only to not go to the doctor at all. Also, premiums are not cheap. Ridiculous.

Good luck.
