The unemployment rate is low - Why do we still feel bad about our economy?

Posted: May 13th, 2019 - 11:16 pm

Wages are stagnant and so having a job isn’t what it used to be: If there’s one issue on which everyone agrees, it’s that real wage growth has been close to non-existent. Both political parties made an issue out of the decline of the middle class in the presidential election and if you want that to end, wages need to rise. They have not–in fact, they peaked back in the 1970s! With every indication that the expansion is nearing its last legs, it’s very quickly becoming too late for low unemployment to have any significant impact on wages.
