Why should taxpayers, Dem or Pubs, be agreeable to funding this. Negotiate with Mexico. Aren't they paying for it? Where exactly is that North American Trade Act? Unknown or non-existent funds, that's where. Most Republicans knew all along that this was not going to happen. Just like, "In my first 100 days in office I will take pen to paper and impose a 35% penalty on companies offshoring jobs." Republicans laughed at that. They knew they were never going to let that happen.
Furthermore, the border patrol agents at the southern border are actually doing their job. Illegals actually coming through there are currently the lowest in more than a decade. Most of illegal aliens are in this country by overstaying their visas. They came through an airport, etc. and have never even seen the southern border. Also, the number one way drugs enter this country is by International Cargo Shipping. These two factors are far more dangerous currently than the Mexico border. The Wall is a sham and nothing more than a trophy for Trump's ego, or he/someone is going to get a kick back on that steel.
