The people who wrote the Constitution knew what they were doing when they didn't include cutouts for certain types of artillery. The fact that machine guns and semi-automatics were in use at the time, alongside cannons and other projectile weapons, is informative. They could have made a distinction in the Constitution or during later sessions of amendment, why didn't they?
I didn't see a comparison between the guns of today and the guns of the 1700s. I saw a mention of the types of guns available in the 1700s.
