could this be the first step??

Little article about outsourcing of call centers.   Could this be a first step in bringing jobs back to the US?

I had to call tracfone over the weekend - call centers

for my mom...she won't call because she can't understand the Indians, but I swear I had an American when I called this time. Dare we hope?

I also had a Verizon tech at the house this spring to work on my DSL and when he called a call center, he said it was in Canada because of all the complaints about the Indian operators. My question to that is if they can move it to Canada, why not the US???

Most of the Tracfone reps are in South America-- - SM

--to the best of my knowledge (and according to the last two reps I spoke with recently who reluctantly divulged their location :-)).

I have to say that the ladies and gentlemen I've dealt with at Tracfone are polite -- EXTREMELY polite, to the point of being maddening, LOL. Last time I had to deal with them it took me over 1-1/2 hours on the phone and they keep putting you on hold, but first give you this very polite "We're sorry" speech which makes you want to scream after you've heard it a dozen or two times.

A few weeks ago I had to call my gas company, MXEnergy, - cece

and the rep had an accent, so I asked her what her location was, and it was South Africa as well. I asked if I could speak to someone in the US and she said yes and then put me on hold for 20 minutes until I finally hung up. Someone actually called me back who was located in the US. I told her to tell her boss that they were going to lose me as a customer because I no longer give my business to companies who outsource.

I hold out hope that if enough voices continue to loudly protest this yet one more example of corporate greed, maybe we can effect change.

I've had a Tracfone for years... - and it took several tries

but the last time I had to deal with them on the telephone (when I bought a new phone and was trying to get it activated and the old one deactivated), I had the very polite poor English speakers for the first several calls, and it was very frustrating--but on the very last call, I had a PERFECT English speaker, no accent, and, go figure, he was the one who finally put me through to someone who could actually solve my problem! I complimented him effusively on how well he did helping me, just in case the "your call may be monitored" police were listening in.....

Is he up for re-election this year? If so, that's why he's taking an interest in this. - Backwards Typist

If you pay attention, everything the voters have been screaming/complaining about is now on the incumbents agenda. It happens every election year.

That's usually their MO - anon

It's always right before election they try this scam. Once elected they go back to giving a rats pitooty about the people who vote them in.

My question is if he is so concerned why didn't he come up with this years ago (or at a time when he reelection isn't coming due).

The guys a worm (IMHO). I don't trust him as far as I can throw him.

just got approved for a streamline FHA refinance.  will be dropping 2% on my mortgage, down from $815 a month to $643 a month.  Closing cost is about as much as current mortgate so with the payment skipped the first month plus escrow check being cut i will actually make a little money on it.  The bad:  I have set myself back 5 years as I refinanced it for another 30 years but a lower payment will help me keep my house.  Plus I can't rent a safe place for my family f ...

A Step-daughterJul 08, 2014
A few months back I posted about my stepfather, who was becoming involved with a much younger woman he met at the senior center.  He turned 90 in march;  She 70 in February.  She packs on the makeup, wears tight shorts, wears hats with a feather on, which she cocks to one side of her head.  She is disgusting.  She lies and starts trouble at every turn. Sadly, my relationship with my stepfather is over.  He believes this woman loves him.  He has moved her in, g ...

Pray A Doctor Will Step Up.Sep 20, 2010
My husband has had eight surgeries in the past three years to repair damage done to him during a pituitary tumor removal surgery. We are in desperate need of a neurosurgeon and an ENT that would be willing to be our expert witnesses in the lawsuit. We really aren't ones to sue, but this has changed our lives forever, as my husband will never be able to work again, and has gone through more than most people can even imagine! Any and all prayers will be greatly appreciated. I know God has a p ...

Need Advice About Step Sister's SonMay 19, 2011
I would really appreciate some advice here because I just don't know what I am supposed to do.   With the exception of my mother's funeral, I have not seen my step-sister in almost 40 years.  She and her mother had moved to a different state several years before I moved out from home and to a yet different state when I turned 18.  When we each came home to visit, we never came at the same time, thus never saw each other.  She is younger than me and I remember h ...

Flying Car A Step Closer To RealityJun 30, 2010
Weird-looking cars are a dime a dozen. Far less common are weird-looking cars that can also fly AND have approval from the Federal Aviation Administration. Indeed, as far as we know, there's only one of those babies: The Terrafugia Transition. The private aircraft/funky-looking car has been in the news before. But the recent announcement that it's going into production sparked mega-searches on the Web. Almost immediately, online lookups for "terrafugia transition" and "terrafug ...

One Simple Step Trump Can Take That Would ChillNov 20, 2016
He should arrest a few of the CEO's of companies that are violating the law by employing illegals. Throw these greedy profit-driven scofflaws in prison, levy huge fines against their companies, and the rest will quickly get the message, you can be sure.  Rationale:  We're asked to believe that most illegals come to the US to find work.  If this is true, and it may be, then cutting off the jobs would both damp down the influx of new arrivals AND would likely cause the se ...

Chicago Tribune: Democrats Should Ask Hillary To Step AsideOct 30, 2016
