Please Keep My Husband and I in Your Prayers

I don't know where else to turn. Saw this forum and decided to post. My husband and I have been married 11 years. Yes, we have had ups and downs with finances, etc., but I have a good job now and we are able to save and all was good, or so I thought. I have felt a distance between us for a month or so and I asked him what's wrong. He said he is just broken, doesn't care anymore, and just wants to leave. My world just turned upside down. We have 3 children, 10, 8 and 6, and this would just devastate them. I have told him I'm willing to do anything to keep it together. He turns 40 in November. Is there any truth to the mid-life crisis you hear about? He tells me he doesn't know why he feels this way and doesn't know how to fix it. He tells me to give him space and time to work it out. I'm just about sick over it and I don't know what to do. Thanks for your support.

Tami, I'm sorry to read y'all are having such trouble. Since you ask for prayer, I assume you, maybe both of you, are Christian. Idk about midlife crisis, but I guess it's possible that we all feel "old" sometimes. I pray that both you and your husband will seek godly counsel. I pray that your husband will take divorce out of his vocabulary. I pray that you each will be able to put God first in your lives and focus first on your relationship with Him then each other. Have you heard of the book LoveDare from the movie Fireproof? Excellent tool about loving the other person according to God's principals. It used to be available at Walmart, but certainly at the Christian bookstore. I pray for deep commitment and perseverance, willing hearts, as well as godly support and counsel for each of you.

Since you posted on prayer board, please know that I (as many others) will be praying for your marriage. Likewise, the best thing you can do for YOU and your marriage is PRAY. God is listening and he cares.

Your husband's statements about 'being broken, not caring, not knowing how to fix it' sounds as though it could be more of a feeling about life in general than your marriage. He may just be zeroing in on your marriage -- but let's face it, in today's world, it's no wonder he feels despondent. There is only one who can help overcome these feelings and keep a marriage thriving, and he is sitting on His throne in heaven.

Might I suggest -- why don't you and husband rent "FIREPROOF" DVD? A wonderful, moving story of a marriage in crisis. It might just help you both. The husband in this movie also used a book called 'THE LOVE DARE' which I hear many good things about. Both movie and book might be restorative to your marriage.

Don't give up hope and keep strong !

Seen it multiple times. Even known three men who took their lives. I am so sorry for you and your children. So far mine has just bought a Harley, wears a do-rag, and wants to get his ear pierced. Hopefully he will work through his issues and not destroy his children's lives in the process. I am so sorry.

I have also heard good things about The Love Dare workbook. Maybe professional counseling is an option. Something similar happened in my marriage 10 years ago, and even though I couldn't get him to go to counseling, it sure helped me.

He has been in the hospital every month at least a couple of times. He is very ill and I know that he will not be here much longer. Our youngest, 33, is having our first grandson in May or June. I have been trying and trying to get out of transcription for over a year. I was to the point of giving up on this one company I truly want a job at.
