criticizing presidents

Posted: Apr 6, 2011

Presidents have been critized for years.

John Kennedy was Irish-Catholic
Ronald Reagan was too "Hollywood"
Jimmy Carter was a "red-neck" peanut farmer
Gerald Ford was an "accidental" president
Richard Nixon was a crook
George W Bush was a cowboy
George H Bush was too preppy
Bill Clinton was a womanizer

And let's not forget about the first ladies...anyone remember Betty Ford?

So, why is it racist to criticize Obama?  What makes him any different than previous presidents?

What criticism would liberals/Obama supporters perceive as acceptable for Obama?

Obama doesn't fit into any of those categories. Nobody is criticizing Obama himself, they are criticizing the policies.

What category would you put him in.

No one is criticizing HIM just his POLICIES. That is rich!! Regardless of what proof they are shown they refuse to believe he is an AMERICAN. They say he is a closet MUSLIM who wants to destroy the country and hates WHITE people. I dont know what rock you live under to actually believe what you just said.

I don't recall anyone here saying he was - a closet Muslim or that

he hates white people. I don't know if he is a Muslim or not. He said he was in a Stephanopoulos interview, and would not have corrected himself if good old George had not said "you mean Christian?" And no, I don't think that means he IS a Muslim. However, he did say it and had to be corrected by the interviewer. Seems odd to me that you would make a slip like that if you were a Christian, but...I digress.

As far as if he is not an American...there are people in this country, quite a few as a matter of fact, who would like to see his birth certificate, the legal long form, one of which you have if you were born in Hawaii. Everyone who was born there has one. That is our right as American citizens to ask, and not to be subjected to verbal abuse for exercising that right. Didn't stop the left from doing so, however; it never does.

He has never denied or affirmed he had one, but he refuses to produce it if it does exist. It is the right of those people to expect their President to produce it if they want to see it, since the Constitution says he has to be a natural born citizen to be President. You can say whatever you want to, but unless he has something to hide there is no good reason not to produce it. It would cost him about 15 bucks to get a state certified copy of the long form. If he doesn't have it, I will loan it to him.

But criticize his policies, yep, there is a lot of that going on and there is a lot to be criticized.

Nobody ever said they didn't believe he was an American. People who do not believe whether or not he was born here or what religion he practices is not a criticism. It's just called having a difference of opinion. Calling somewhat a womanizer or red neck peanut farmer or anything on the list the OP posted are criticisms. Nobody has ever said anything like that about Obama.

And like the poster above said nobody ever said he was a closet Muslim. Obama is the one who said he was a Muslim. Maybe that could be why some people believe he follows the Muslim faith. I don't know what religion he follows and actually I don't care. With everything going on in the country what holy book he reads or what words he follows is the least important issue to me.

Everyone with a brain knows that he's an American. The issue to which I believe you are referring to is that some people do not believe he was born in the country, and I will just defer to the comments in the post above me titled "I don't recall anyone here saying he was a closet Muslim". No need for me to repeat what he/she wrote.

But those two issues are not criticisms, they are just ongoing issues like other policies and stuff.

Lastly, just a little word of wisdom...If you call yourself Truthseeker you should at least keep an open mind that sometimes things are not the way we want them to be no matter how bad we want them to be that way. Nothing nowadays surprises me. To me truthseeker means to seek out the truth and for me that includes having an open mind that anything is possible.
