a sentiment I can relate to

Posted: Nov 6, 2009

I was watching some coverage of the people in DC yesterday for the "kill the bill" rallies, and one sign I saw stood out for me.  I don't usually care to pay too much attention to the sign carriers 'cuz they oftentimes are the extremists and their signs can be so hateful they make us all look bad, but this gentleman summed up quite succintly how I am feeling right now.  "I love my country, but I am scared of my government."  That is what his sign said.  Short and simple but with profound implication.  I have lost confidence in my government and have for many years felt I could not trust any of them as they could no longer understand or relate to the people they are elected to govern and that there are no morals or ethics at all in politics.  There is only the quest for power and money, and nothing stands in the way of that.  I am frightened by people who lie and cheat so freely and openly without conscience.  The older I get, the more cynical I become about matters of politics and government.  I think this sign carrier spoke my mind.  My fervent hope, however naive it may be, is that somewhere in DC and somewhere in my state, someone noticed and listened and is willing to work to earn back that trust and is willing to truly represent the people who elected them.   When I was young, my favorite uncle used to say "we need to get the politicians out of politics and let the people in."  Now I know what he meant.

The first step would be term limits. Politics corrupts and it doesn't take long. These people are so far removed from the average American citizen that they have no clue what representation even means.

The sign I liked (regarding the health bill) was "Shove it down our throats in 2009, we'll shove it up your *ss in 2010."

I agree that we need health care reform, but it needs to start with tort reform and needs to be done right, not just quickly.

There are just more "common sense" ways of going about healthcare reform and ways to insure that ALL are covered, not just some. Otherwise, really how is it any different than now? Other than our taxes going sky high, which is what EVERY expert says about this bill that is being shoved down our throats. The dedication to parties needs to be put aside, people need to learn to think for themselves, let some common sense in and DEMAND that these people in Washington (cannot call them leaders because they are doing such a lousy job) come up with a better way of going about healthcare reform.

Relate And LaughFeb 15, 2010
When you have to visit a public bathroom, you usually find a line of women, so you smile politely and take your place. Once it's your turn, you check for feet under the stall doors. Every stall is occupied. Finally, a door opens and you dash in, nearly knocking down the woman leaving the stall. You get in to find the door won't latch. It doesn't matter, the wait has been so long you are about to wet your pants! The dispenser for the modern "seat covers" (invented by someone ...

Likeability And Able To Relate....Aug 30, 2012
I keep hearing these terms and I chafe every time I hear them.  Wasn't sure why until just now while I was making the bed (I know, random, right?) and a memory popped into my head.  (Prepare yourself for a long analogy.) My son was born with a raised birthmark just above his forehead in his hairline, which wasn't an issue until he was about 12 and started to notice girls.  He perceived that it was the size of Mount Rushmore and everyone in the world could see it (which ...
