We need patriots - not parrots.

I'm defining a "patriot" as someone who is devoted to this nation, and who refuses to be held captive by any political party.

A patriot is someone who will do the very hard job of thinking objectively about what's best for our nation, as opposed to the many varieties of "lazy counterfeits" that we simply pick up somewhere and parade around as our own thoughts, but which in fact are just what someone else wants us to think.

It's so easy to be a parrot, living in a cage and repeating noises that you don't even really even understand - but you do it because it makes your "master" happy and maybe he'll give you a cracker.

Polly-want-a-cracker. Polly-say-what-master-says. Polly-get-a-cracker.

I wish I could just say that this shallow form of "citizenship" only makes me tired. But the fact is, there are now so many parrots that the country is beginning to look like just what you'd expect: The bottom of a bird's cage.

Think for yourself. And know when something has actually been PROVEN and when it hasn't. Refuse to relinquish your mind to the control of any masters.

We need patriots, not parrots.

As accessible as nonpartisan data is on the internet, no one, no politician, no lay voter, has an excuse to rely on sound bites from either party.

Educate yourself! In this election especially, with all the dirt and false accusations being thrown around, you do yourself and your country a disservice if you don't take the time to find out what each candidate stands for, what their voting records (or policy results) are and what their plans are for the future.

If you vote blindly, using mainstream media as your one and only source, the result will be like the proverbial blind leading the blind: both will end up in the ditch. (Or in our case over a fiscal cliff).

to "take the time to find out what each candidate stands for" does not mean just listening and believing whatever comes out of that candidates mouth. Lies have been told, and many believe them. Please go by their past record of what they are for, what they are against, what they have voted for or against in the past that may not necessarily be for the benefit of the nation but to them or whoever is "bribing" them. A true patriot should be able to "stand on his own record" and not on what he says or promises in a campaign. Keep that in mind.

I'm not sure when it started, but at some point Americans with differing ideas for the betterment of the nation stopped talking to one another and sharing those ideas - and became mortal enemies. As someone who is old enough to have watched this sea-change develop, I have some ideas about HOW it happened, just not when. At some point, a lot of us have become unwitting pawns of "conservaatism" or "liberalism". I'm a conservative; tell me you're a liberal and I hate you ...

Fellow patriots, have you viewed "Clinton Cash" via YouTube? If not, do so. Hillary's America is most likely playing in a theater near you now. I have not seen this one yet but have friends that have seen it and they and the reviews say it's outstanding. Both are regarding Clinton filth, of course. ...

I think they should make them play the game again and postpone the SuperBowl--LOL...like that would ever happen. Maybe they should kick out their quarterback, although that cripples the SuperBowl game. Even if Sea Hawks win they will feel cheated.
