Pay raises -

Posted: Dec 28, 2012

President Barack Obama issued an executive order to end the pay freeze on federal employees, in effect giving some federal workers a raise. One federal worker now to receive a pay increase is Vice President Joe Biden. According to disclosure forms, Biden made a cool $225,521 last year. After the pay increase, he'll now make $231,900 per year. Members of Congress, from the House and Senate, also will receive a little bump, as their annual salary will go from $174,000 to 174,900. Leadership in Congress, including the speaker of the House, will likewise get an increase. http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/obama-orders-raise-biden-members-congress-federal-workers_692223.html;

I'll probably get that word deleted but I don't care. I totally freakin pisses me off. We are struggling. The American workers that is.

When government fails at their job what do they do? Vote themselves in a pay raise.

Okay know the moderator will delete this, but I have to say it once more.

THAT TOTALLY PISSES ME OFF!!!!!

This STILL PISSES me off!!!! - Had to say it again

It's been awhile since I posted this message and I'm still p.o'd about this. You and I and everyone on this board is struggling. We are not getting pay raise, yet my utilities, gas, cable and health insurance went up, except my pay did not. How in their right minds can they give themselves pay raises with all the other freebies they are already getting. Best medical care, some living in mansions, dinners to the best restaurants, best healthcare...everything and its still not enough.

ALL people in congress should have said no on the pay raise.

Don't know why but man this pisses me off!!!

And what about our Senator for NV - Reid - he doesn't - even live in our State! nm

2010 pay freeze expired and was not extended. - Raise is 0.5%.

The freeze never did apply to merit raises or "within grade" raises. You are right. This is not just about Congress voting for a raise for themselves. There are 2.5 million full-time employees and another 250,000 part-time. Somehow, I just can't get all that "pissed off" about a one-half of one percent raise after a 2-year freeze. After all, according to House GOP reps, this is well within their "below $1 million" annual income definition for "middle class."
True. It includes all federal employees and...sm - VTMT

amounts to 0.5%, their first raise since 2008. An MT that makes 0.08 per line that gets a 0.5% raise would elevate their wages to 0.0804 a line or a raise of about 50 cents a day if you transcribe 1200 lines a day. Big whoop! Just wanted to put things in perspective for all the MTs here.
Hilarious! Joe Biden - one of us?? - nm

and voting record is nothing but liberal agenda. Notice he's hovering near the $250,000 threshold to be labeled "rich." Can't have that - bad for his image as "one of us."
Don't you get it? It's not about - how much money he has

or any other politician, for that matter. Joe Biden has always been mindful of voters who send him to DC. He takes his REPRESENTative role very seriously. On numerous occasions, he has voted against his own personal beliefs and interests and has said many times his job is NOT to impose his views on others.

He knows his constituents like the back of his hand and votes their interests accordingly. In return, they sent him back to the Senate, time and time again, for a total of 6 terms before he became VP. He barely squeaked by in his first election with 50% of the vote, but consecutive election percentages show increasing support each cycle. By 2008, he received 64% of the vote.

I am a liberal. Joe Biden is not. He's a democrat from a solidly blue state who has been known to vote against liberal agendas in the past. Check out his record on abortion and civil rights, where you will find a mixed record that indicates his political evolution over the years. He thinks marijuana is a gateway drug and says legalization is "a mistake."

Aside from that, he is ranked as one of the LEAST wealthy members of the Senate, having no investment or outside income, except for book royalties. One of his recent tax returns says he earned only $99 in interest on his savings account. Personally, I don't care what he makes. I care how he votes and, in that respect, Joe Biden needs no "image." He's champion of the middle class, all the way.
After watching Biden in the debate, he makes - me want to vomit... phony and bully ! nm

Villification: To "justify" bad behavior by portraying the - victim as a terrible person requiring it from
[ In Reply To ..]
the good one, the villified person being Biden and the "good" one being you, Vomit, if you're having trouble seeing how this applies.

There's actually been a lot written about this. All group atrocities involve villification by the attackers of the victims. I.e., in their minds there are no victims, only evil people whom they, the "good" people, need to protect themselves from by committing murder, torture, rape, etc. In our little personal worlds here, it usually plays out as spreading lies about someone to get them fired, cause others to dislike them, etc. Then, of course, in politics.

Craig Engle, a D.C. attorney had worked with her and testified that she felt conservative groups should be subjected to more vigorous investigations and backed Republicans against the wall while giving Democrats a pass. Contributions from foreign nationals drew more scrutiny when they went to Republicans than when they went to Democrats. Nice. Shows she wasn't exactly neutral ...

Intervention by the U.S. and Iran in Yemen is raising the prospect of a proxy war even as the Obama administration tries to reach a nuclear deal with the Islamic Republic – with Iran sending two ships to waters near Yemen, as the U.S. speeds up military aid to the Saudi-led coalition striking Tehran-backed rebels there.  Iran's English-language state broadcaster Press TV quoted Rear Adm.
