Okay. Never Again. I Promise.

Posted: Nov 1, 2013

I'm going to take a cue from that "young doctor" (who turned out to be neither "young" nor a "doctor"), and write an open letter. Mine will be short and factual, which is more than I can say for his.

November 1, 2013

Dear President Obama Haters:

I am convinced. Some people hate the President. Message received. Contrary to popular myth in some circles, the world didn't start to collapse the day he took office. Speaking for myself, I don't hate my President, and nothing I see posted is going to make me hate my President or jump up and start cheering for my President or my country to fail. The elections are over. He won.... twice. There's no re-do.

In conclusion, in my opinion, trashing President Obama ad nauseum nets a big fat zero because he's not going anywhere for years and years to come.

If it's any concession at all, I do promise never to vote for him again.

Sincerely,

Seriously

your cheerleading for him! I am tired of that, as well. Please get off the soap box about him. You can love him all you want, but you will not change my mind about what a façade he is putting on, either, so stop trying to convince me! I will never cross over to your side any more than you will cross over to mine. So you won... so what... what exactly did you win? Not much, in my eyes. except to say that you were "right" (so to speak)and those who did not vote for him... twice... were "wrong." 'Nuff said.

Except that *seriously was not trying to change your - mind - and I don't see much cheerleading

long, long, long time for any president. His term is more than half over. What are you talking about? If someone does not like Obama that is their privilege. Why are you trying to get people to like him if they do not? They obviously have different ideas than you do.

Her question addresses the futility of the cons' hate campaign, not the target of their efforts. After a SECOND national election loss, what do they hope to gain from continuing to use this tiresome, ineffective and nonproductive strategy? Judging from the inability or deliberate refusal, as the case may be, to give a direct answer to this simple question, one can only conclude that they simply cannot help themselves. It must be hatred for the sake of hatred. It's really sad that, as much as they need to do it, the GOP cannot seem to get itself beyond this losers' strategy long enough to recognize that the national electorate did not, is not and will never buy into a campaign based on a de/obstructive, nonproductive anti-Obama agenda. Until they demonstrate that ability, it is highly unlikely they can convince voters they have anything of value to offer them in 2014 or in 2016, especially considering the party also has no clear alternative plan of action that confronts the REAL political issues.

Capisce?

Two things:

1. You must be referring to his entire time in office as his "term"? If so, your statement that his term is half over would have been correct merely 1-2 days after he took the oath of office for his second term. However, to be factual, his first term is over, and his second term started on January 21, 2013. We are not even 1 year in and are actually still in the first year of his second term. I will concede that not everyone sees the word "long" as the same. Your definition of long doesn't equal my definition. I was actually writing to Obama haters, and I cannot conceive of an Obama hater who would think that Obama had a short time left in office, seeing that we will have four Christmases, four New Year's, and four Martin Luther King Day's before he leaves office on January 20, 2017. I will bet he gives a hug to his successor on the White House steps. And I will further bet the world will not magically get better the day he leaves.

2. I was absolutely *not* trying to get anybody to like him if they do not. My letter was addressed to "Haters" and talked about getting net zero for their efforts in getting anyone to join them in their hate. In my opinion, it would take a special kind of stupid to try to produce the opposite effect in them.

you only have 1,175 more days to go, 28,200 hours, 1,692,000 minutes or 101,520,000 seconds. As we say down here in the Lone Star, that's a right fer piece down the road.

I Will Try To Explain What I Meant, The Best I Can - *Seriously

No. No. No.

I absolutely do not believe that the people who did not vote for Barack Obama were "wrong" in any way, shape, or fashion. It's not wrong to disagree with someone and cast your vote differently. I can't answer the question about "winning" because I do not think some people "won" and some people "lost." Not remotely. It's not about winning and losing at all to me, and it's sure as *heck* not about right and wrong to me either. I would have to have a pretty thick skull to think that I could make a "hater" like something that they hate.

It's hard to put into words what it is about, but I will do my level best.

Elections are over, he's the President now/again. Even if someone could convince someone else to "not like" or to "hate" the President, he's still not going anywhere, and he's still the President for a long, long, long time. Okay, even if anyone wanted to vote for him again, they can't. Even with all those facts sitting out there, and those are absolute truths that aren't going to change, people seem to hate the man on a personal level and seem like they are on a crusade to get the rest of the world to come around to their way of thinking and jump on the "hate" wagon. Why so much invested in convincing others to hate him. No one can vote for him again, and he's not going anywhere. It won't change a thing. The net will be absolutely a big fat zero.

Hate won't change anything, so why so much hate?

That's always my question. 30 years of hostility, and hate, - toward ME because I have a different viewpoint.

[ In Reply To ..]
Why? Our nation was set up with the understanding that reasonable people would disagree. I'm a reasonable and decent person. I don't deserve the 30 years of hostility, name calling, smears and misrepresentation of my views as evil that SOME conservative acquaintances eventually became totally vested in.

What this group indulgence in angry self deception has done to its members is far more serious than what I had to put up with. So many are no longer even people one can have a sensible political discussion with. Probably never will be again.

Bravo - some of the broken records here - make you wonder...

if they think that their constant posting of OPINION *not* based in fact - and jump on their bandwagon. Not happening. Even people who don't really support the president aren't swayed by people who don't MAKE THEIR CASE with hard fact...

be saying they were always for universal healthcare, getting out of Iraq, getting out of Afghanistan, not invading a 3rd Muslim country (that has NEVER been our ally in the first place), not revisiting the Great Depression, etc.

The guy is far from perfect and honestly, the spying and his attorney general irk me. Someone from Wall Street should have gone to jail for a long long time besides Bernie Madhoff. But compared to all the crazy loons on the right, Obama will do.

I hope we have seen our last republican President for my lifetime. The republicans have done to America what the Taliban and Osama bin Laden could have only dreamed about. They, with a lot of help from Fox News, have turned us against each other. Good job!

Yes, Yes, Yes - *Seriously

Bravo! So true. And what an excellent point you make about the Taliban and Osama bin Laden. OBL got a little upset when the money from the United States stopped flowing to him, and just look how he responded.

Oh, you have opened this can of worms in my head and they are crawling around all over in it now. I could say so much, but I'm going to slap my hands and just say this:

Doesn't it just seem like *everything* leads back to the allmighty dollar and people who worship at the alter of money?

Yes, BUT success will be in spite of the liberals. :) - Haters don't die, they just burn down. FT nm

there have been presidential haters (can't you just hear the 1770s blogosphere going on about how dare he approve the Jay Treaty and how Martha wears her wig too high to be a real American lady?) I think the final straw for me was claiming the Navy Yard shootings was part of a plot of BO to nuke DC. Honestly, every president likely from day 1 has probably had plenty to dislike and BO is no exception.

My advice: Grow up, base criticism in some sort of reality and be happy to live in the US which may not be number 1 these days in a lot of things, but is still pretty darn good, especially compared to our 2 biggest frenemies. Be grateful that in just another few short years we'll all have someone completely different to kvetch about (with any luck another democrat).

I don't think many COULD rescue themselves from the spiral - of self deception. Not without intensive help. We

routinely see on this forum completely absurd statements about political issues that any thoughtful person would know simply could not be true. Yet most of those who make them truly believe them, and of course a few do not.

New information typically gets run through our funds of knowledge for evaluation. That's why people can glance at some of the political articles posted and know by the second line that a quick google would disprove them, if they bothered. What happens, though, when a person's knowledge "shelves" are filled with decades of propaganda, and for some "proof" of conspiracy theories? When all conflicting political information was DISCARDED by the brain years before and therefore simply doesn't exist for them?

That's why I think we should treat some people a little more gently, understanding that the strong disapproval appropriate for a person knowingly spreading political lies is not appropriate for someone who is clearly sincere. Remembering that political views are only one facet of a person, and that a person can be both a wonderful parent and friend and at the same time one who can be fooled all the time. And certainly "all the time" describes the activities of the cynical operatives who have become so good at manipulating reactions for reasons that are seldom revealed.
