In the first article, he's aggravating Russia.
In the second article, he's telling Al Quaeda and the Taliban when we're going to be out of there and how many troops will be left behind. Those troops will be easy pickings for the jihadists. You know the Afghans will look the other way if those troops are attacked or attack the troops themselves. I'm very uneasy about both articles.

Barack Obama has authorised his administration to provide arms to Syrian rebel groups, after it concluded that Syrian government forces had used chemical weapons âmultiple timesâ over the past year, US officials said on Thursday.
The White House said Syrian forces had used small quantities of chemical weapons, including sarin gas, and that 100-150 people had died as a result of the attacks, a conclusion that had been reached with âhigh confidenceâ.
The US president has been reluctant for the US to become directly involved in the Syrian civil war. However, he has said repeatedly that the use of chemical weapons was a âred lineâ, and the new intelligence assessment has led him to agree âin principleâ that the US arm moderate elements of the Syrian opposition, officials said.
âThe president has said that the use of chemical weapons would change his calculus, and it has,â said Ben Rhodes, a deputy national security adviser.
The US has already agreed to provide non-lethal aid to rebel groups, including communications equipment and medical supplies. However, Mr Rhodes said it would now provide âdirect military supportâ which would be different in âscope and scaleâ from existing pledges.
The US needed to help the Syrian rebel groups to become more âcohesiveâ and âeffective as a fighting forceâ, he said, although he declined to provide an âinventoryâ of the new support.

The decision means that Obama will leave office in early 2017 having extricated the country from the longest war in U.S. history. He ended Washington's combat presence in Iraq in 2011.
Obama's White House Rose Garden announcement prompted criticism from Republicans that the hard-fought gains made against the Taliban could be lost in much the same way that sectarian violence returned to Iraq after the U.S. withdrawal.
Obama, who made a whirlwind visit to U.S. troops in Afghanistan over the weekend before American combat operations conclude at the end of 2014, appeared to anticipate concerns that he is abandoning Afghanistan. He said it is time for Afghans to secure their country.
"We have to recognize that Afghanistan will not be a perfect place, and it is not America's responsibility to make it one," Obama said.
Under his plan, 9,800 U.S. troops would remain behind into next year. By the end of 2015, that number would be reduced by roughly half.
