I'm joining the 47%

Posted: Nov 7, 2012

I have decided I'm tired of being in the part that busts my hind end trying to pay my bills and taxes, including over 1000 a month for health insurance for two people (which went up over 300.00 because of Obamacare already).    So, I am going to quit 2 of my 3 jobs, and go get some food stamps and perhaps apply for disability.

I truly believe in helping my fellow citizens that NEED help out - but come on, it can't be the few supporting the many and that is where we are headed.  I'm getting old and truly tired of being part of the sucker working my hiney off group.

I wish O'Bama well .. he is going to need all the luck he can get.  I truly believe we as a country are in serious trouble.   Don't know that Romney was the answer but at least he was a businessman and could have made cuts that need to be made, instead of spending my grandkids kids into oblivion.

Go ahead and apply for food stamps and disability, then the rest of us can continue busting our hind ends to support you.

Your insurance did not go up because of Obamacare, it has not gone into effect yet.

Yes hers did. I know because I got a notice - and mine went up to

and it explained why. Don't proclaim you know things you do not.

Do you mind posting the explanation? - NM

Everything has gone up with Obama in office. - Gas, debt, jobs, food.... Just saying

It is all going up even more!!!

My point exactly ... - Just sayin'

I for one am TIRED of working so hard. And don't be fooled - our taxes and insurance will go up, and those Obama supporters who think otherwise rae going to be surprised.

I personally know 3 people who are FULLY capable of working and earning a living and paying taxes that are on disability (and each of their kids gets a check because of this, so they do quite nicely every month). They get food stamps, got WIC ...

There ARE people who deserve and need the help these programs are set up for. And many of them won't apply, which is sad.

and yes, I was told that to cover the up-to-26-year old children was the major reason for my insurance increase.

But hey .. I won't be able to afford it probably after this year, so I will just go to the ER.

Gosh darn it, where is all this free money that people are getting? - Where's it at?

I don't know anyone who's getting a check from Obama. I do know people who are part of the 47 percent--including my sister, who is a single mom and does not pay federal taxes because she benefits from the Earned Income Tax Credit. It makes the difference between her falling into abject poverty and keeping her head above water.

Oh, and also my mom and dad, who are Social Security and do not pay federal taxes. They're part of the 47 percent.

But I don't know anyone who is just getting a big 'ol check from Obama every month.

Great post. I think she must mean food - stamps? NM

those that are getting.... - anon

"a big ol' check" get it in the form of "public assistance," and corrupt things like "earned income tax credit". Pardon me, but your sister did not "earn" anything, except had a kid without benefit of a spouse to support her. Why should WE have to support her stupidity??? Let her get a real job and have to pay taxes, just like the rest of us. and the reason that the social security people do not pay taxes is because THEY ARE NOT EMPLOYED!!! They paid their dues while they were employed in the form of taxes...into an account that was SUPPOSED to be reserved for them when they got too old to work, which was supposed to be like a bank account and something they could rely on in their senior years, allowing them to not have to work until they were 100. The govt saw all that money sitting in SS and decided that it was theirs, when in reality it was already tax money paid by the elders of the working class, and not to be regurgitated into their pockets once again. it was not put there for the govt to TAKE BACK just because they were greedy, and leave the elderly to sit in mud and die! They paid their dues, the money is THEIRS, not the govt and not yours to do with as you see fit. Keep your legs shut, stop popping out kids left and right, grow up, and start supporting yourselves instead of relying on those that ARE working, to support you. It is YOUR responsibility to "keep a roof over your head," not ours!

Or are you always such a warm ray of sunshine? Excuse you, but the poster never mentioned the circumstances surrounding her sister's single mother status, so to assume that it's due to stupidity is out of line.

I haven't had enough coffee to read the rest of your rant. I do notice that it's laced with SCREAMING CAPS throughout, so I might not get back to it because I don't want to. Sorry.
I don't care what you want..... - anon

I simply don't want someone sitting at home doing nothing, spitting out kids left and right, and having their hands out for the money I work so hard for, like they "deserve it" somehow. I am tired of working for someone who won't even tie their own shoelaces without the govt telling them they have to. so I don't care if you read my post or not. Get a job!

Give me a break. You're so angry that you're jumping to conclusions about the other poster's sister and about me. I have a job, TYVM, in a career that I paid good money to attend school to learn, graduated, repaid my student loans, invested money in software/equipment to make myself more productive than ever, show up for work on time, produce excellent work, and MAKE LESS NOW THAN I DID WHEN I GRADUATED IN THE EARLY 90s (please notice the screaming caps). I've lost 2 jobs to India between 2006 and 2010, and between job #2 and this one, I've taken a 20% pay cut in cpl alone... not to mention no benefits now, no bonus incentive, no raise, and earning PTO at a snail's pace. I'm responsible for paying a mortgage (now underwater), caring for my PLANNED child, etc., based on decisions made and credit granted before employers in this field (and many others) decided to gouge their employees as much as they can to fatten their pockets. Maybe try directing your screaming caps in their (and other business/corporate gluttons') direction and being a little less itchy to jump down someone else's throat with accusations of laziness, stupidity, and irresponsibility will be more productive. And if you're that bent over Mittens losing, call the whaaambulance.

Now, I don't know about you, but I'm on a split shift. So if you're slacking during your workday to post online... GET BACK TO WORK!!! You got lazy people to pay for. Some folks need another summer home for cryin' out loud!

perfect attitude - just brilliant

I have a feeling Mr. Romney was hoping for a little more backbone from his constituents. Perhaps this is why he lost.

The way I look at it, Mr. Romney did not lose.... all who voted for Obama did!!! ha ha ha. You shall see who is the true winner in the end.

if the "integrity" of your fellow republicans is so flimsy that y'all throw up your hands and decide not to work...well, wouldn't that make y'all socialists or something?

Husband Seriously Considering Joining The NavyJan 08, 2014
He started thinking about the military a few months back.  He went to a recruiter yesterday.  He made a 92 on the practice ASVAB (highest is 99) so he's good to go there.  He does have to lose about 25 pounds so that is the reason for the delay. I am behind him 100% and proud of him for at least trying to turn his life around.  He has been a musician but after years of unsuccessful attempts he is realizing at 33 he will probably never reach the fame he so desperately wan ...

AARP. I Am Thinking About Joining AndSep 14, 2015
I went to the movie Saturday. You almost have to rob a bank to go now. The popcorn for the medium size was $7.00. Ticket prices before 5 o'clock were $8.00 per person regardless of age. This got me to thinking about AARP. I do not think the prices would be any different for the movies but for other things. If anyone has AARP could you tell me a little about the savings you have found. TIA ...

All The Crazies Are Joining The Trump TrainJan 26, 2016
I am sure the Republicans are trying to figure out how to get a normal candidate to come to the forefront.  There just isn't one.   And Falwell, Jr. endorsing him, I would think the evangelicals would be really upset about that.    How in the world do evangelicals follow Trump?   ...

Rumors Of Paul Ryan And Chris Christie Joining Pres. RaceAug 16, 2011
Just my opinion, but I think Chris Christie would be better off finishing his term as governor and then running in the next election - I like him, but it's just too soon for him.  Paul Ryan should also think twice about this, as he's not exactly Mr. Popularity, even with some conservatives.  I like him, too, but I don't think he coud garner the support he would need. Thoughts on this - no slams, please. ...
