Drill baby drill? sm

Accidents like what is now happening in the Gulf of Mexico are why we need to be very cautious about where we drill for oil. A spill at one oil rig out of thousands in this area is all it takes to have a major environmental disaster. The shrimp, oyster, fishing industry in the entire gulf area will be severely affected for years to come.

We have engineers who have long ago come up with alternative fuel sources but NO, our government and the lobbyists get all involved to stop it due to special interest and their HUGE wallets, and it never comes to fruition. Those folks don't have the billions of dollars to defend their rights to the fuel market when big oil companies start suing them to stop production...

that situation. They don't want us to use solar panels in the desert because we would basically scrape off an entire ecosystem in the desert to install the equipment. You can't use wind because those are an eye sore and they make bats explode. I personally have a problem with ethanol because I think taking a good that we use to eat as well as feed our livestock is not something we should be turning into fuel...especially as much fuel as the American people use. Obama has pretty much thrown hydrogen vehicles out the window. Electric vehicles have been approved but you are still using electricity to charge them and that still uses some form of fossil fuel.

I'm really for everything except for ethanol. Drill here, use wind, use solar, use water, etc. We need to get away from depending on foreign oil. We are so stupid to give so much money to people who want us dead. We have pretty much funded an army of terrorists who hate us.

Everyone needs to make compromises. I would rather..sm - oldtimer

look at wind turbines on my mountains and off our coasts and solar panels on every roof than use oil from anywhere.

Talk is cheap. What have all of you done to lessen our dependence on foreign oil or improve the environment? Do you drive less, try to conserve your gas, recycle, stop buying bottled water, use biodegradable and recycled products?...and I could go on and on. We Americans need to get over ourselves and our endless wants and start paying attention to reducing our glutanous behavior for the sake of our environment and future generations.

I recycle. We have a bin for each item in our garage. We also do not buy bottled water. We use a water filter in our freezer for our filtered water. I work out of my home so I do not use much gas at all. I use reusable bags at stores instead of using paper and/or plastic. I'm greener than a lot of left leaning people who claim green is the way to go. LOL. I'm sure as heck a lot greener than Al Gore is. We always turn lights out in rooms we are not in. We don't leave the TV on when we are not in the room. We have a geo thermal system in our house to heat and cool it. What else do you want to know about me here?

I do a lot more for the earth than a lot of green people do. I'm all for using alternative fuel sources and I want our dependence on foreign oil to stop. I think hydrogen cars are the way to go and I'm all for using solar, wind, and water for clean energy. Sign me up.

I don't really believe in the sky is falling tactics by Al Gore with global warming. I think that is a load of crap, but I still think we should all be doing things that are good for our planet and not take for granted what God gave us.

But it just seems like every time we try to come up with an alternative energy source....some one some where is gonna throw a hissy fit for one reason or another.

If we can't drill here...get going on alternative fuel sources and drilling won't even be an issue. I keep hearing promises, but have yet to see any real effort made to get solar and wind going.

Maybe American farmers would like ethanol. It - would make them more money.

I was actually happy Obama said we could drill ourselves and now he has gone back on that. However, he is still allowing other countries to drill in our oceans. So..we can't drill because an oil spill, that doesn't happen very often, might happen but it is still okay that our countries are drilling in our oceans. Yea..that makes a whole heck of a lot of sense.

countries that would rather see us dead and virtually pay for the weapons they use to get rid of us. That is such a better idea. Why didn't I think of that? If Obama is gonna stop offshore drilling, then he needs to not allow other countries to drill in our oceans as well and I know he has given other countries permission to do so. If we can't drill because of this incident, they shouldn't be allowed to drill in our waters either.
