Posted: Sep 12, 2012

Are you seriously telling me that Libyans can MURDERS four innocent Americans in cold blood and then our President apologizes FIRST - and condemns second?  This is crazy!!

"While the United States rejects efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others..."

It's funny that he would apologize for this but doesn't say too much at all when Christians in America are publically trounced upon as haters and bigots on a daily basis - with mayors trying to force Christian businesses out of cities b/c they don't agree with their beliefs? Didn't hear Obama apologizing for any of that.

Not an apology... - SK1

The US does support religious freedom.

...then you need to shut your mouth and keep your opinions to yourself...at least if you want to run a business.

Wow. The hypocrisy is AMAZING.

Here's his statement (swiped from CBS website):

I strongly condemn the outrageous attack on our diplomatic facility in Benghazi, which took the lives of four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens. Right now, the American people have the families of those we lost in our thoughts and prayers. They exemplified America's commitment to freedom, justice, and partnership with nations and people around the globe, and stand in stark contrast to those who callously took their lives.

I have directed my Administration to provide all necessary resources to support the security of our personnel in Libya, and to increase security at our diplomatic posts around the globe. While the United States rejects efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others, we must all unequivocally oppose the kind of senseless violence that took the lives of these public servants.

On a personal note, Chris was a courageous and exemplary representative of the United States. Throughout the Libyan revolution, he selflessly served our country and the Libyan people at our mission in Benghazi. As Ambassador in Tripoli, he has supported Libya's transition to democracy. His legacy will endure wherever human beings reach for liberty and justice. I am profoundly grateful for his service to my Administration, and deeply saddened by this loss.

The brave Americans we lost represent the extraordinary service and sacrifices that our civilians make every day around the globe. As we stand united with their families, let us now redouble our own efforts to carry their work forward.

during the protests yesterday, before the violence, the US Embassy in Benghazi issued a statement saying they condemned the "continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims – as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions." Romney and the right are trying to say that Obama issued this statement after he knew about the violence and the killings.

Thank you - Vintagefine

for injecting facts into the discussion. I didn't see an apology in there anywhere and don't know why such false claims are so easily believed and spread.

He really is a disgrace. He needs to get out. (sm) - Texan

For a full day while we were being attacked, the only response by the US was a strong condemnation — not of the attacks against us — but of the internet video that “hurt the religious feelings of Muslims”. It’s no wonder that the radicals felt safe in attacking another embassy, setting it afire, chasing down the Ambassador and his staff and murdering them. The response? Hillary Clinton condemned the violence (personally, not mentioning the United States), but added that she “deplored” the “inflammatory” material posted on the internet. Finally, a full day after the atrocities, Mr. Obama issues a written statement condemning” the attacks. That’s it. That’s all you get for killing 4 diplomats, burning one embassy, raising the Al Qaeda flag over another, and murdering the US Ambassador and his staff in the streets. Yes, that's all you get with this disgrace of a President and an apology for offending Muslims. He is one of the Brotherhood. A card-carrying member.

Here's the apology... - SK1

At least as I see it.....

September 11, 2012

The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims – as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions. Today, the 11th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, Americans are honoring our patriots and those who serve our nation as the fitting response to the enemies of democracy. Respect for religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy. We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others

Absolutely correct, a statement by the US embassy...sm - VTMT

the biggest butt kissers in the world - taking "God" out of things so as not to offend Muslims and others of different faiths - This is OUR country, or it was last I knew - if these people are so easily "hurt" by our ways, why don't they go back where they came from and leave us alone instead of trying to make US adapt to THEIR ways? Think about that before you bend over.
What do you mean by... - KLG

"this is OUR country?" American evangelical Christians? Because last I checked, there are Americans of other religions too (including Muslims) as well as those who do not believe in God and have every right to do so. I'm so sick of some Christians acting as though their beliefs trump the beliefs of the rest of us.

Look at the photos of those loving Muslims dragging around the body of Christopher Stevens by the hair, throwing him around like a bag of crap, and then we will talk. I'm sick of the world telling me how Islam is such a loving/peaceful religion. Sick of political correctness torturing and killing innocent people.
Blaming the entire faith? - VF

I guess you forgot about the innocent Native Americans who were tortured, raped, and slaughtered by all those loving Christians; and all the innocent Africans who were beaten, raped, and enslaved by all those loving Christians. If the actions of a murderous group of Muslims can be attributed to the entire Islamic faith, despite the many who are loving and peaceful, then what say you about the entire Christian faith?
