Unbelievable. He said he "meant no disrespect." I'd hate to hear how he speaks when he's not being interviewed.
Young, now in his 21st term in the House, said in an interview with Alaska's KRBD radio that when he was young, his father "used 50-60 wetbacks to pick tomatoes" on their California farm.

I feel that if a person is this dumb and backwards, not to mention lacking in basic protective instincts (wetback having been an unacceptable slur for probably 3 or 4 decades now), how good a job is he going to do with the basic nuts-and-bolts elements of the job that affect our wellbeing in so many ways?
Honestly, for me whatever bigotry it may or may not display is actually secondary to just plain stupidity. Bigotry only hurts some through some actions, but stupidity in government hurts everyone of all backgrounds many ways.
And basic character? What does it say about him, and probably the type of person he likes to hang with, that he talks this way in 2013?
Let's go a little crazy and actually require competence, good character and intelligence from our representatives. Because we really, really need them.
