About irrational fears

Posted: Apr 16, 2017

I am sick of you always thinking you are right. You posted down farther where I posted my reply to your irrational fears post that I was associating the picture with the fear. Not so. It was a horrible time then. Kids were all afraid we were going to be nuked and from Russia. This had nothing to do with a picture lady, but real fear. So stop thinking you are the all authority on this board. I have lived probably a lot longer than you have and don't disrespect me for my answers to your unfeeling posts. You didn't live back then to know what kind of fear we had. We went through bomb shelters and all the stuff around surviving the bomb, etc. It was nearly all the time we were made aware of the bomb and how to survive, etc. Again, I have lived nearly 73 years and those were really scary years in my childhood. The bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagaski were dropped when I was one year old. My father went into Hiroshima or Nagasaki after the bombing. I am surprised they let anyone in those cities. He died very young from a heart attack but I have heard the those who went in after the bombs were dropped in Japan ended up with leukemia and other blood illnesses. ;

Thank you for posting this. - I'm an "older poster" too

and I remember being showed how to hide under the desk, how to quickly run home when the air raid siren blew. It was appropriate to be afraid then, and it is now. Nuclear weapons are no joke.

I, too, remember having drills daily, getting under our desks or out in the hallway at school "ducking and covering." The school I went to was very close to an Air Force base and even though we were children the dangers were not sugar coated in an attempt to make them seem less dangerous, we were told exactly how dangerous it was - in terms we could understand as children of course. It is very appropriate to be concerned, afraid, whatever you want to call it. Nothing irrational about that.

Please accept my apology - I'm sorry - nm

My B17 pilot father-in-law was raised in SoCAL and said there were - many Japanese spies on the West Coast

that were arrested on numerous occasions. A Japanese submarine surfaced and shelled a port, just like there was a German sub on the East Coast.

He has first hand knowledge of how the Japanese treated other people, especially the Chinese. Camp 731 used human subjects to test deadly biological agents. We have a good friend that was a 19 year old Marine on Iwo Jima.

Look at the events leading up to dropping the bomb. Japan was not going to stop. Even Hirohito knew this was a mistake, but Japan's military at the time had completely control over government. This is what led to Pearl Harbor.

I don't have fears of us using nukes, I have fears of Iran using them, who is run by a Supreme Leader. Or China.

Many people forget, Japan was aligned with Germany and Italy - during WWII. At least then we had

Winston Churchill, the watchman.

Any time someone tries to warn about a Russian/China alliance or Iran with a nuke (thanks to Obama), like Churchill we are met with ridicule.

North Korea developed nukes during the 90s. Madeline - Albright admitted that. It takes

years for stuff to surface. In October 2002, North Korean officials acknowledged the existence of a clandestine program to enrich uranium for nuclear weapons. Now not only do we have NK, but Iran.

Russian, China, North Korea, Syria, Civil Unrest in - Amreica, economic uncertaintly.
