Tinnitus

Posted: Apr 16, 2016

Does anyone else have tinnitus?  If so, have you found any med, supplement or treatment that works?  I thought there was no treatment, but saw an ad on TV for lipoflavinoids to improve tinnitus.  Thanks for any input.'

I have tinnitus also - sm

I unfortunately just live with it because I have CKD stage 3-4 and have to be extremely careful with over-the-counter meds as well as others. If you find out whether or not it works, let me know because I will research it and see if I can take it too. My tinnitus is constant with hearing loss. Good luck!

I've got it. Probably a combination of 40 yrs - of MT-ing combined with - sm

too-loud music at parties or too-loud sound at movies, among other things. In addition to getting older (don't calcifications in middle ear contribute to tinnitus?), plus frequently taking NSAIDs for relief of osteoarthritis pain. I see ads for something called Lipo-Flavenoid (?sp?) on TV, but don't know if that works. I prefer to just ignore it the best I can.

Lipo-Flavonoid - gkscc

I have tried the Lipo-Flavonoids (rather expensive) and did not make a bit of difference.

Among other symptoms I also was experiencing tinnitus, not all the time, but sometimes. After some blood tests for unrelated reasons, my doctor discovered B12 deficiency, due to lack of intrinsic factor, and started me on shots, first weekly and now monthly. After about 3 months of shots I one day noticed that I hadn't experienced any ear ringing for quite a while, and it has not returned. I can't be 100% sure, but I suspect it could have been related to that vitamin deficiency.

I have very loud - tinnitus

Almost two years ago I had a very bad case of vestibular neuritis that landed me in the hospital for four days. I really couldn't walk with balance for a few months and needed physical therapy to retrain my brain to walk, etc. Driving was like learning all over again. I will have bouts of sudden vertigo.

I ended up with damage to the vestibular nerve and loud tinnitus that's the pitch of a smoke alarm. I have high frequency hearing loss because I can't hear frequencies that match the tinnitus pitch.

I'm lucky to be kind of a mellow person and it really doesn't bother me all that much. If I think about it, I can hear it over car noise, crowd noise, nothing drowns it out. I do notice it when it suddenly changes pitch though.

From all the research and asking the ENT specialists, unfortunately there's really nothing that will cure it. From my understanding there's nothing organic going on the ear, it's neurologic and a miscommunication between the ear and the brain.

Thanks to all of you (sm) - Abby

for your input. This confirms there is nothing they can do. This is new to me and not extremely loud, but it does seem to be getting louder. I pretty much just block it out. Mine is a very strange noise that isn't a constant buzz, similar to what a water wheel would make with changes in volume. I haven't seen a doctor for it yet as I just got insurance and playing catch up with multiple problems.

Again, thanks everyone for your helpful input.

I too, suffer from ear ringing. It ebbs and blows, rises and lowers, like a sound that is rotating. I have horrible sleeplessness at night, waking up every hour or so, and I attribute this to my ear ringing. Since I have become an MT my hearing is very sensitive and I felt I was waking up so often because I could hear the ear ringing. Nothing makes it better or worse, its just there constantly. I can block it most of the time, but evidently not in my sleep.
Rusty - Have you tried background noise - Abby

When you are sleeping like music?
No but will try this weekend - Rusty

I feel the constantly change in pitch ringing in my ears is the reason why I have so much awakening at night. I will try anything to get a good nights sleep, THANKS.
Good luck Rusty. Let us know if it works (nm) - Abby

It worked, slept really well, but slept through my alarm. LOL. Don't know if it was because I was sleeping so well or because I thought it was just the music I was hearing. But it helped, THANKS.

Does anyone else suffer from tinnitus? Mine is a high-pitched, constant noise in my ears.  It is worse in my left ear than my right.  Some days it isn't that bad, but some days (like today) it is very loud and is driving me nuts! I have an aunt who has Meniere's disease, and have heard that can run in families, but I do not have the associated vertigo that Meniere's has, just the constant noise. If you have tinnitus, what have you found that helps?  I'm sure ...

Tinnitus After DC'ing CaffeineMay 11, 2016
I've been trying to eat healthier and am feeling a little better. I have been "tapering" so to speak off caffeine. The tinnitus started a couple of days after decreasing my daily amount. I have not had any caffeine at all in the past two days and the tinnitus today is so loud I have had to stop working. Has anyone else experienced this? I tried to call my doctor's office to make an appointment, but I couldn't hear them. I am going in the morning to see if I can get ...

I have this ongoing now for four days.  I do not notice it when I am busy but when I go to bed at night, it is very annoying.  I have tried an ear wax removal kit and it did not provide any relief.  Anyone know of a home rememdy?  Thanks in advance! ...
