Cholesterol drugs

Posted: Oct 25, 2012

Need some advice from anyone taking or have taken medicine for high cholesterol.  I'm already on medicine for hypertension (low dose lisinopril) but now my doc wants to start me on a statin for my cholesterol.  I know it's silly, but I've let those 1800 BAD DRUG commercials  get to me, so I'm almost more scared to take the medicine!  I've been working out and eating better (staying away from bread and pasta - my two favorite things!), but doc says after six months, my numbers aren't down enough and wants me to take medicine.  Any suggestions of what to take that has really helped but with minimal or no side effects?  I also need something cheap - only have major medical, so I'm covered if I have a heart attack from the high cholesterol, but not for the drugs to bring it down - dontcha love the irony? :)

Any help or advice would be appreciated!

numbers down to normal. The MegaRed is the best though, not so fishy aftertaste.

The generic statins that you can get at Target or Walmart - long time CMA

on the $10 for three month supply like simvastatin are usually very effective and do not have a lot of side effects. They are very affordable. If you have followed a low fat diet, exercise, etc. and your numbers are not low enough, it is probably in your genes that you will have high cholesterol and the only thing to work well will be meds. The interist that I work for as a Medical Assistant uses these generic statins all the time and he also does not believe much in these "natural remedies" as it is a crap shoot if they will work or not. Best to just take the meds if that is what your doctor wants you to do. Good luck to you.

COQ10 - functional med

Also it is wise to take COQ10 if you are taking statins. 100mg daily. Also
"coQ10 can reduce high blood pressure wo other medication".
let me quote u from a Functional Medicine book i own. "cholesterol in food like eggs isnt a culprit. research shows eating eggs in moderation has little impact on blood chol levels. big contributor is saturated fats and over-eating. . REDUCE BAD FATS ... INCREASE UR DIETARY FIBER.
IF your body weight is 10 lbs overweight, your body produces an extra 100 mg of chol every day.

War On Drugs? I Don’t Think SoSep 05, 2016
The DEA has filed a notice of intent to schedule and ban kratom by September 30th, 2016. For those of you who do not know what kratom is please visit r/kratom subreddit or do a quick youtube search and watch some of the videos people are putting up about it right now. I will include some links below. I believe this is a war on natural and herbal remedies and this is going to set a dangerous precedence.  My husband has relied on kratom for more than five years for his chronic back pain due ...

Question About Buying Drugs OnlineJun 07, 2011
My 18 year old nephew was involved in a wreck and was hospitalized with a severely broken leg.  He will be okay, but his parents are very upset that he was loaded!  He was drinking and had drugs in his system.  He will have charges for property damage to a business also. They searched his room, found bottles of xanax, hydrocodone, vicodin, valium and such.  His dad checked the computer and found an account with one of those Canadian and Mexican "pharmacies".  He is in t ...

America's First War On Drugs: Rare Photos At Link......Jun 28, 2017
The volunteer tour guide mentioned FDR's mom's family made their fortune from the opium trade during the Civil War era. It's true but I was surprised she even mentioned that. The tour guide was very open about the what a modern person would see as the seedy ways these families made their money. She mentioned the Roosevelt's started their fortune by processing sugar in colonial NYC, which was part of the Triangle Trade pattern of Colonial America. The sugar was made by sla ...
