We got an Rx through the doctor so that Medicare would cover it, but it was the exact cream that is on Amazon for the same price. Generic name is silver sulfadiazine cream 1%.

[ In Reply To ..]I agree that Silvadene is great if you have an open wound from the burn. When working as CMA, doing nursing, I would always dress a burn with Silvadene. The first thing you need to do when getting a burn is get it under really cold water for some time to stop the burning and even use ice on it. If it is a first degree burn, I used Aquaphor ointment on it. I have even used this for sunburns and it works great. If the burn is bad enough to use Silvadene, you should see your doctor and make sure you keep the area clean to prevent infection. Tylenol or Advil will help also with pain. Hope you get better soon!
