I wrote a few weeks ago about getting a stray cat fixed. Well low and behold Thursday I put his food down near the entrance to the carrier and he started eating (starved like usual), and I gently and slowly guided him into the carrier. HOORAY!!!!! Been trying for over a year to get him to allow me to touch more than just my finger to his forehead. So, poor guy was panicked but soon calmed down. Then stupid me though thought I'd put the food in and let him eat as he was so hungry and he'd calm down. But sure enough he tipped it over and food smashed everywhere. So called the vet and they got him in right away. We thought he was sick (like a feline disease type) because he is so thin and not putting on weight no matter how much I feed him, and he walks slow, always in fights and coming back with wounds. But he's healthy. They gave him all the vaccines, neutered and treatment for ear mites and fleas. While he was at the vet we went and got a large cage called a dog training cage. Very secure and room for a poop box, his bed and food bowls, so we picked up him this morning and now he is in that. Not very happy I might say either, but safe and on our porch so I can keep an eye on him through the window and will go out and try and get him used to us. This morning I put my hand through (part of hand that would fit) and he let me pet his head, so hoping he will become somewhat domesticated like his sister did. He'll also stay in the cage for a couple weeks after we move until he gets used to the new place and will know where his home is.
Just wanted to keep you updated. So so thankful we will not be abandoning him when we move.
